If someone asked me how I do in a tank, my answer would be: it's kind of like my golf game...I make just enough good shots to make me want to do it again.

What I have noticed for a long time is this: I line my target up just above the plane depending on how far away the plane is and fire. Many times the shell hits the plane and I see an explosion...so I think I hit it...nothing happens and the plane goes on to destroy my tank. Other times I fire, watch the shell go flying over the plane looking like I missed it completely and down the plane goes. I can't seem to find that sweet spot or figure out that constant trick that works when I tank....and that's what frustrates me. Hitting another tank is not a problem though...for me anyway.

Does anyone else have this issue? Does it differ depending on what you play on? I play on win 8.1 with all my settings off other than chat.

I would like to know your thoughts regardless of what you play on and if you're on win 8.1, what have you figured out that makes you successful?

I didn't even realize the target sight meant anything, since it never seems to move when I rotate the gun. Is there a view where its easier to aim? I just use trial and error for hangars and figure everyone who can hit a plane has bribed Zup for a hack. Hoping to here some tips here... I'm tank illiterate.

Do you hit the camera button when you tank?

You can... Theres an in the tank view and an out the tank view. From inside, I always roll over, so I stay outside the tank... I just watch the shell view in the corner and try to compensate (badly)

My problem is rolling backwards!
Is there a brake somewhere that I am missing?

When go from the inside view (which enables you to move & steer the tank) to the outside the tank view (which allows you to elevate & turn the gun) it automatically activates the brakes on the tank.. just be sure not to be heading at speed down a slope when you do it otherwise the tank will nose-dive and flip over lol! :silly:

Me in tanks.... Doesn't work as all. I can hit hangers but I was never able to shoot a moving target. I am more an aviator than a tank person in the game. I have seen some amazing tank kills, so gj to those who manage to pull it off.
Tc everyone :)

I have the same exact aim/hit no affect - aim hi to the right/kill experience on my iPad. The best part is watching the crazy response of a chute or plane when hit.... It's quite comical!

its lag that makes you miss when you think you hit. for other tanks the speed they are moving relative to the lag means a hit is a hit. the plane is moving fast, if you are seeing it where it was .2 of a second ago, then you tank shell just missed it (or hit it when you thought it was sailing by)

I see the same thing. But there is a soft spot u can hit every time to kill the planes. Litterally just above the plane, almost grazzing the wing top. U send ur shell over that, ull kill em every time. Take it from a master tanker ;) lol. I have more tannk kills than air kills anymore. U just have to lead the target and know where the game thinks the plane actually is. Its tough at first, but just watch as the planes glitchingly fly by, u will see a pattern. Aim infront of that pattern and above it, ull hit home every time. Foust tought me to tank back when it took real skill and no lazor guided shells. Now, the skill is countering lag and getting lucky.

Heres some pics of foust teaching me and a few others. I guess we can say i was head of that class lol. Now i can block tank shells with my own rank shells, shoot bombs out the air with a bit of luck, and even shoot planes down that arent even coming for me. Bur my only problem. I cant hit a dam hanger to save my life LOL

I also have some rare tank pics and some old df pics. Lol i save them because rhats when df was the most fun for me. When it was a game and not a war between everyone.

And look closely at that antique water lol

And me any gmoney on duckwing, back when the Alb DV was the king of the skies and the Zebra ruled all other planes. Lol

kes is right, i often ge kills there, and often i just miss it. ask someone you almost hit where the shell was, most are willing to tell you, and then you compensate.

Well man. I dont fly anymore. I gave dogfight up for warthunder. I now shoot planes down in ww2 class tanks without the lag glitching. Ask anyone around. I used to be someone to fear. A top ranked player to many, even though i stopped flying when i reached spot 47. I no longer have the desire to play this game anymore. To many loud mouth rookies and false friends. I find peace in the ground and skies of ww2.

Amd like i said. Tanking is nothing of what it used to be. Its aim and shoot now. Way back when, u had to compensate for the shells up fire and down fall. And somehow meet the plane in the middle. Thats y i said it used to take skill to shoot with a tank. Now its easy. I see rookies going out now blasting planes with tanks. Its not much of a rare skill anymore
