Well, after seeing the video (which was pretty cool) I wondered what happened to it. Did Zup not get enough funds?

That does look pretty sweet! Lets hope it becomes a reality.

I asked the same question about a year ago, and they said that it never reached the required funding.

I wonder how that game, if it is so much more elaborate, would perform lag-wise compared to the DF we have now.
But wouldn't it be the best thing out there?

It did not achieve the targeted kickstart funding. Some thought DF Elite was a great idea, some thought it was a distraction from getting and keeping the main DF game operating cleanly, and some thought a bit of both.

Me, I thought it was a neat idea, but I also saw the main DF game as underfunded and sorely in need of maintenance and bug fixing. I guess I hoped that DF Elite might cross-fund some main DF game fixes and servers, so I pledged some bucks to DF Elite.

With the DF Elite campaign failed, we now see Z trying to reprice the main DF game to get it proper funds for servers, and he's also limiting bandwidth taken up by free players by using a wait timer (and trying to get some of those players to bend to additional subscription payments). I support the repricing effort, and only hope it results in sufficient servers, less lag, and a fairer business model for Z.

The link is right on the front of that site to the kickstarter page.
The project needed $125,000 and it only got $25,000. The way kickstarter works is that you either reach your goal or you get nothing, so we got $0 to do the project.

End of the story. Why would that be a scam?

Does that mean it will never come to fruition? It sure looked good..

Actually, Joaquin, that's not a bad idea. I don't know where you're at with squad wars, but I'm sure you could raise a few grand via Kickstarter. There's other platforms out there that let you keep cash that gets pledged even if you don't meet your goal. Maybe you oughta look into those, too.

DF elite looked great,a real glossy game.My only concern for it,which is why I didn't back it was that there was no chance that elite would have ever run on a tablet or phone.It would only benefit PC users of which at that point were not even integrated into DF.Our hand helds struggle with the graphics on DF nevermind what DF elite was gonna ask of them.

Edit: Kick starter for squad wars?No thanks.I've just paid my second subscription.If EVERYONE had to pay subs to play there wouldn't be a need for a kick starter.

Dogfight Elite was going to run on mobile devices. It would do the same than the current system: adjust graphics to your device speed.

It would also had covered for squad wars and tons of other things. It was an attempt to get the current Dogfight and finish all I wanted to finish in this game. In short, Dogfight Elite was Dogfight fully done. It required to pay more people to complete it on time, that's why we needed the funding. Myself alone just takes way too long.
