In Texas and many parts of the South it is bad luck not to eat your back eyed peas on New Years. I have seen folks wrap one in foil and carry them in their pocket. Since we have a great international bunch here. What are some other good luck superstitions for New Year's Day? Happy New Year and eat your black eyed peas!

Here in the UK it is traditional to open your front and back doors. You open the front to let in the new year and the back to let out the old. Personally, I think this tradition was started by the energy companies to boost their profits!

Here in the Philippines, kids would usually wear red clothes with polka-dots, lots of coins in their pockets and jump around while fireworks are popping outside.

Red for good luck, the polka dots and coins for money, and jumping around for further growth in the new year

For adults, some still abide by it except for the jumping part... Though some vertically challenged ones still do for the fun of it hehe
