The BF109F Over the wing on that aircraft was the only reason it made it home, believe it or not, that German pilot escorted that B-17 home by flying over its wing when the aircraft went over German flak, as the flak would not fire and risk taking the friendly aircraft with the heavily damaged bomber, the BF109's pilot later wrote that he did not shoot them out of the sky (as easy as it may have been seeing the condition of the B-17) simply because it was defence less and he admired her crew for keeping her in the air in her current condition, he left her wing when she came over friendly flak, the b-17 landed at a nearby English runway, arriving at only 200 feet off the ground (as high as she could go) and running on fumes, look it up some time.

Panzer Vl Tiger 1 Henshaul, Eh? I prefer the panther, the Tiger had a nasty habit of over heating, track hopping (loss of track incredibly easy) and breaking down/ engine stalling, not to mention the easily jammed turret, and high maintanance costs...

Hard to tell from that picture, but its a Nimitz class which means it could be anything CV-68 and up. I spent a lot of time on Nimitz class carriers in my day......

Thanks, oh, on the history part, back in school age (I'm not far beyond it at only 20) I was very, very shy, and kinda-sorta kept to myself, a lot. And then I caught my dad watching an old war movie when I was 10 and instantly started researching the topic of Wold Wars 1 and 2, and from then on it just kept piling up, and I always had my nose in a book, odd huh? I was and still am shy though lol

Yeah, I was gonna go with the Panzer V, but decided on the Tiger 1 due to it being basically a mobile platform for the most deadly anti-tank weapon, the 88mm gun. Plus, it is beautiful as far as tanks go. The Panthers were excellent tanks but in the documentaries I have seen the allied tankers feared the Tigers above all others.

Heh...heheh......false.....sorry, The Panther mounted a better version of the same weapon, had better armor, was faster, more reliable, and cheaper, and 60% of kills credited to the Tiger were kills by Misidentified Pz 4 F2's, and no, the Americans didn't fear them too much, at moderate range a 75mm Sherman could penetrate the front with ease...

They re-commissioned a few of the battleships and I was lucky enough to capture a photo of the Iowa crossing our wake approximately a week prior to the accident in the turret. Its rumored they could fire a projectile the size of a Volkswagen 26 miles. Not sure how true that is, but what a beautiful ship she was.
