It could give scientific proof for many theories of how our universe came to be so diverse. It will be very interesting to see the results of any experiments the probe is capable of conducting.

If they can't attach it the problem will be when it approaches the sun because the whole comet will begin to release steam (that's one of the things they want to study) and it could throw the space ship off.

The harpoons were a 50-50 chance anyway, as if they anchored into ice then they would be detached quickly once the comet started heating up.
