It really is unfortunate, not only the state of the community (which is actually no worse than any of the many other internet communities I've been in), but the steep quality drop of the game. It seems that 8.1 on Nokia are finally experiencing the constant gamecrashes that have been plaguing me for months. Lost connection is out of control, as is lag.
I'm off-topic. For real now.
But I've really discovered the formula to overall contentment in this community. I used to be unhappy, always trying to be a crowd-pleaser, and always caring what everybody thought of me. Instead of becoming somebody, I was becoming nobody, losing all personality. I'm over that now. There is a two-step process to never worrying about a troll, flamer, or idiot again.
1) Find the good people, the ones you like, respect, and fit best with. For me, that's pretty much everyone in M.O.M, then everyone that SHOULD be in M.O.M (Viper10, horriblebreast, Dr Curtisshoe [Seriously, everyone loves Doc], etc.)
Have a good time with those pilots. Enjoy them, respect them, have fun with them PM THEM (seriously, pms are a HUGE part of my forum experience), and get to know them.
2) Make the rest just running jokes. I know it comes off as harsh, but what better to do with someone you just don't like on the other end of the internet? It's not like they're doing you any good just by ignoring them. Just have fun with them, without them knowing. It's their choice to have a problem with it. As a matter of fact, I HOPE I'm a running joke to some people here! I would be delighted to know I'm giving joy to people indirectly.
THE MAIN WAY TO NEVER GET TIRED OF THE IDIOTS IS THIS ONE SENTENCE
IT'S JUST THE INTERNET!
Remember, it's your choice to get offended, angry, or annoyed. I get that there are things you can't control whether or not you see. If I'm having a fun world chat convo with Boudicca, it always sucks to have a group of 13-year-olds charge into world chat, screaming about ebola. But then, I just ask them if they have the same uncles on both sides of the family, let them try to figure that out, and peace out.
