Does anyone know if there is a login setting to turn off displaying of posters' banners? No, not my own, I know how to do that - I mean reading the forum threads without other people's banners showing.

Since I've been back on the forum a little more, I've noticed that a good number of banners are not appropriate for... polite company, and it's just better to turn everything off when scanning the forum in public :P

Ah, perhaps I wasn't clear in my first post. I'm not trying to turn off ANYONE ELSE'S viewing of banners. I'm looking for a settings switch to turn off JUST MY viewing of banners when I read the forum.

I travel a lot for work, and occasionally meet fellow travelers who turn into business associates and customers. I stay in my work clothes instead of dressing down for flights home. I'm always ready to sell or interview. But I don't always work when I'm im an airport or on a plane, and I might have a novel or my smartphone or laptop. People sitting next to me will naturally and unavoidably have a view of my book, magazine, or screen. As I am in public and still representing my company, and ready to pitch our firm, I choose my magazine, book, and websites for normal professional public consumption. So I do not choose racy magazines. Nor do I surf on pin-up sites. Some of the banners here may make the people sitting around me uncomfortable, and I have no need to do that. Simple as that.

Anyone know how to do it? Some other forums have a setting, more for picture attachments and banners as to not slow down mobile surfing.

Tell those no good, snooping, eye eavesdropping, neighbors of yours to keep their eyes to their self. And you have my permission. My banner is only to be looked at by people I consider friends anyway. I'm a sharing kinda person like that.

Other than that I know of no settings. But they do make a screen cover that makes it impossible to see from an angle, you have to be looking directly in front of the screen, but the last one I seen kind of takes away from the picture a little. I don't know if that is an option or if it will make nosy neighbors have bigger noses.

But I do see your point.

Anyhow this message was brought to everyone's attention by this awesome banner seen below. If it makes your neighbor uncomfortable tell them to look somewhere else;)

I can see your point.but if i glanced over your shoulder and caught an eye full id probably get a twitch.:) i dont want or expect people looking at my phone the same as i dont expect people to look at the cash machine when i use it.i personaly find it a breech of my personal space and privacy.I think the majority would think that way and out of courtesy would not be looking at what you are doing.
I would like a blocker myself. Not for the content but for people with too many banners which take up an entire page for 1 post.(my pet hate)

Totally agreed if I am reading the forum sitting in my lawn chair at the beach... mind your own damn business pal! But sitting next to someone on a crowded airplane, I'll choose to be more discrete than to flip open a soft porn magazine. No judgment on anyone who would, or anyone who would exercise even more caution than I. Just a personal choice.

I am not into censorship. But I do imagine that some folks might want a way to read the forum content without displaying banners for this reason. Heck, my own banner advertises our virtual bar. I would understand if someone wanted to read the forum at home without the kids seeing that scroll by. I wouldn't change my banner, but I'd understand his/her wanting to not show it while reading.

Try this:

Use the parental/admin settings on your computer/web browser to BLOCK or RESTRICT the websites that these images are hosted on, such as Photobucket. Blocking the host sites should prevent the images from appearing.

This won't work for everyone's banners, and it may block yours if you are using the same sites.

So how do i do to get the banners and only the banners and fullscreen (and hd if possible).   Ty !

To be perfectly clear, that's NOT what I am saying. Zuperman and mods (whoever they may be) make the call on where to draw the line on banners, pictures, and language. To date, Zup has not had a problem with current banners, and so for me, if I don't like 'em, I can take myself elsewhere. This thread is NOT about censoring banners. If we want to start a discussion on that, it will be off this thread. At which point my own banner would be a candidate as well, since some folks find a bar to be over the line. And we can talk about that. Somewhere else.

This thread is about a setting where we can choose to surf the forum without banners for the situation I posed. Luna has the best solution so far. Anyone else?

Easy turn off images being auto loaded in your browser.

www.thewindowsclub.com/disable-load-imag...utomatically-firefox

smallbusiness.chron.com/turn-off-images-...-explorer-49962.html

or just search the web for disable images or text only browsing.
