Ok I had a post about this before but cant find it. Since alot of people will only fly the d8 because the camel is more or less a bus with wing. Even though some of us do fine with it. Some do not and will only fly the d8. Zup this makes for unbalanced games there's tomany d8 players. So if we can get or change the top allied plane to the f4 buzzard maybe more people will fly both sides again. The f4 is. A 1918 plane its small fast. And agile. Yes it came to.late in the war but it should of been a good match for the d8. The point here is we need allied flyers again zup please consider this. It would be nice to have balanced games again. I for one fly what I get but I'm.seeing to many 6/1 games where people wont switch sides. It seems is to big of an advantage for some to give up

but allied side the planes are spad or S E a 5 is so huge to fight..

Without changing the side , any idea to select the plane from all planes..?

This is a great idea, D, but the D.VIII advantage would still be present. The problem isn't to do with real-life specs of the source aircraft, it's all about the D.VIII's diminished in-air footprint. It's about 70% harder to hit that slip of a fuselage in head-ons whereas the Camel occupies the same amount of target area as any other biplane. I have no idea why the D.VIII is so hit-resistant even in dead center tail shots, but it is. Probably something to do with the coding, it should not be that crazy hard to hit even with the absence of a lower wing plane.

The D.VIII had no direct late-war equivalent parasol/monoplane on the Entente side so it shouldn't be the top level German machine in a game where number of wings translates to number of pixels translates to target size. Until Dogfight addresses other glaring historical inaccuracies the argument that the Fokker was the best of the best is irrelevant. The Snipe was better than the Camel and the Siemens-Schuckert D.IV was better than the Fokker D.VII or D.VIII. The top tier planes in Dogfight should be the Snipe and the SSW D.IV, both biplanes taking up the same airspace so no targeting edge for either side.

It must be something to do with the coding. The noob German plane (the E.III, i.e. the flying pancake) is a monoplane, essentially the same head-on profile, but yet it's easier to hit than the D8. Maybe instead of trying to add another Allied plane (sounds like a LOT of work) the coding could be tweaked to make the D8 easier to hit (marginally less work maybe)? I have a feeling that if the D8 were as easy to hit as the flying pancake that more allied players would stick around...

Either way something needs.to be done Im tired of being alone on the allied side. I was just thinking if the allied side had a sweet plane maybe other would actually fly it. Since most peolpe don't want size changed I figured a small fast thin bodied airplane would be the way to go. I thank everyone for posting. Keep it up and maybe zup.will notice

Ok I just did some checking. It might well be a coding thing. But the d8 has an in line engine giving it a sleek slim profile both from.head on and behind. So the f4 also has an in line engine giving it a sleek slim profile. The wings are close enough together to limit that out I hope. And the size is about The same

It looks like the d8 has a rotary engine to me, it does have a slim fuselage.

I like the plane jack posted on my thread. Seems like it migh be able to even things up?????
Perhaps we should petition to get that plane in the game

Sry guys the d8 does have a rotary engine. I was looking at the d7. I'm still I'm favor of the f4. Its made in the same year .but I really don't care my main concern is getting guys to fly allied side again

Instead of the triple hound, I like the triple hound in a dogfight. I can turn that girl hard,but it's a big target in head on combat.
