With respect to Zup’s post about lagging, which is found here:
www.dogfightplay.com/index.php/forum/2-g...conspiracy-theorists
and his statement, “Yeah, everyone will see you jumping randomly on screen and maybe not hit you, but the part that is missing is that the person lagging will also see you jumping randomly on screen and shoot at places where you are not located!”, I just have this little story to convey.
I encountered a different situation the other day. First some background…
I typically play at home with a really good wireless connection. I don’t believe I ever lag unless there is a problem with the servers. When this happens I usually see all of the planes disappear and then come back and this tells me that my connection is the issue. If I see a single plane disappear then the problem is with them and I assumed he would lose sight of all of the other planes in the game. My assumption was consistent with Zup’s explanation.
But the other day (playing on a tablet using a hot spot I created from my cell phone that was using, I guess, a bad 4g connection) I had difficulty getting hits to register kills but the opposing planes (while skipping slightly) never left my view. I always knew where they were and I had great success in getting behind them. After the 6th kill, one opponent said that I was disappearing. When I tried to reply in chat I noticed that it took at least 10 seconds to get my message sent out after hitting <enter>. The interesting thing to me is that my incoming data seemed to be unaffected (for the most part) but obviously my outgoing data was slowed. Although I know this was the gist of people’s complaints, I had never seen it. Anyway, having experienced it I can say this can happen and there are obviously no protections built into the game/servers to prevent it.
I’m just glad I finally found a way to take on Blue Max in the future.
