Im starting the filming of a vid about df.
I just have a question.
Im planning to have some "big teck company" logos/names in the vid.

So long as I don't make any money off the video I should be ok with copyright red tape right?

Or do I need to ask permission to use their logo?

????????

technically you need to ask their permission to use their logos, trademarks etc. If it's only for a small distribution and you are not either making them look bad or pretending to be them, you won't get in trouble, usually just state that the logos belong to the company in question.

the worst that would happen is you get a letting asking you to remove the logo, but that would be pretty unlikely

Well since I rip off logos all the time I had someone argue with me so much I ended up looking it up and Hammer is pretty much spot on. The law allows for what is called fair use. Fair use means you are not selling anything or making money by using their logo in any way, and basically what you are doing is using the logo for your own purpose and not casuing any damages either by defamation, slander or reputation.

Anything that uses someone else work needs to be asked unless specifically told on the license. That includes sounds, music, graphics, 3d material and videos.

In my case as long as no income is generated out of df videos and it does not damage the company image nor tries to damage someone's else, all I ask is to point to this www.dogfightplay.com and the game credit on it so people knows what game was used to make the video.
