I have been playing since about January and there are still things that I'm having trouble with. I'm using an iPad Air, so some problems may be because of my device. Is there an instruction manual for the game located somewhere?

How do you shoot from the parachute? I try but the joy stick control wanders all over the screen and is rather slow. Someons suggested I use the camera screen but when I do that all I can see is myself in the parachute and no way to air or fire. Is there a way to aim like when you are in your plane, by moving your device?

How do you land on the ground and not turn into a tank? Some people, when shot down, stay as a soldier and keep shooting from the ground.

Same with the tank (I'm still using the SL download). The controls are difficult to get working and I have to keep trying over and over to make them work. Sometimes they move the turret, sometimes they don't. Even the forward/reverse and turn control is sometimes non responsive and you have to paw at it over and over.

That's it for now, if I think of other stuff I'll add it. Thanks for what ever help you can give. :)

Don, welcome to the forum. I'm only knowledgeable about the iphone when set to the movement controller, but I'm sure someone will be by shortly to answer every possible question you may have. You've definitely come to the right place.

Good luck

Jacklpe

Sorry it took me a bit, work and all. OK, this is what i know. I play on an IPad2, i have none of the issues you speak of, but if i try and use my wifes IPad3 the controls for the chute and tank are barely responsive. as if they stick or something. I dont know if it is an update thing or just the newer device. i would try changing the title of this thread to "IPad Air Problems HELP". maybe you will recieve more responses. Sorry I wasnt more help.

When you land on the ground you must turn around till you see the tank. Then walk to it. As far as shooting from the chute, after you jump from the plane, hit the camera button, then the bullseye should show up. fire away.

Thanks for all the input so far. While I'm using the iPad Air, and that may be causing some of my issues, I was also wondering if there was a place where I could read about the different features of the game and how they work. Right now it seems to be a "discover as you go" kinda thing. The problem is when you are playing the game, you are playing the game, not experimenting with the features. That's why I was asking about the manual. I did find some info on the forum but it takes a lot of looking to find a nugget here and a technique there. So I figured there must be one place with a listing of everything I needed to know about Dogfight and how to play it effectively.

As for the iPad Air and sticky functions, it just must be "an Apple thing". I know Apple has it's own way of doing things and are not always responsive. I'm sure Mr. Zupperman has had his share of frustration dealing with Apple's requirements. As an end user, I get a bit frustrated too by the shortcomings, not only of this game, but of the device in general (like uploading photos, music and videos and no flash player or MS Word documents). Can Dogfight be played on my desk top iMac? I think some people can play it on a PC

VonHulK, thanks for your input. I am able to get the tank to work and shoot from the parachute, but the controls are almost non functional, to the point where I almost never use them. I usually just retry back to my plane and keep going. BUT, shooting from the parachute can gain you many more wins and that's why I was trying to get some pointers on how to best use it. And how is it that when some are shot down they stay as a soldier and shoot with a machine-gun rather than to to the tank? Just wondering.

Once again, Thanks to everyone who has posted. :)
