Dave, it was getting out of hand and these multiple threads about droppers etc ...does not benefit the forum at all!!! That thread was heading in the wrong direction anyways!!! I stand by my decision to lock it. Now you say I caused the last fight?? I don't think so!! What caused the fight was a lack of understanding by a certain few!!!

I am going to publicly apologize for unintentionally derailing your thread, and ultimately causing its locking. I was trying to help protect the identity of other pilots and prevent future fights caused by misunderstood and misinterpreted posts. I really did understand what you were trying to do, I was simply trying to warn that it may have caused quarrels; but in doing so, I caused one myself.

I would also apologize for giving a moderator reason to lock the thread. If I had known that a fair debate between two parties were an offense to cause a thread to be locked, then I would have not started one. I did my best to keep it as professional and non-personal as possible, but ultimately the topic was destroyed. It was really not what I was trying to do.

No hard feelings, I hope.

We have to keep our posts within the frames that the rules has pointed out for us and Jack or any other mod should not lock or delete if we do.
Should it happen we end up in a gray area the mods should point it out and lead us away from it.
Locking it is like if the police would give a speeding ticket to everyone who drives a car that can go faster then 80.

If a thread is going nowhere..... What's the reason its was locked..... Argument and disagreement amongst players?..... Can't have that I guess.....

Miss Luna, please don't be to hard on yourself. I believe this was coming anyway, with or without your post. We have lost many great people from this forum. I don't want to lose you too. We have only played together a few times, but I would miss reading your input on important matters. I hold your opinion in high regard.

It was rehashing the same stuff over and over and over. I always glanced at it as it give me insight to how some players think.

However it was MY CHOICE to either look at it and or participate. It was MY CHOICE not to participate in that thread.

I don't think that it should have been locked. It really wasn't hurting no one and if you don't like it than it's YOUR CHOICE not to look at it.

Anyhow that's just mine opinion for whats its worth.

Here is what happened, or at least my interpretation of what happened (if someone believes I am wrong, please correct me):

Joker started a new thread with a goal to catalogue information about players' playstyles. This includes information on whether they bomb, drop, camp, sneak, etc...

Though Joker tried to explain against it several times, some players thought it was just another "hit list". I, too, initially misinterpreted the intentions of the thread. My first posts on the thread were angry, I was basically accusing Joker of being cruel and unfair. However, as I re-read the first page of the thread, I realized what Joker was really trying to do. It was then I gave suggestions on how to change the thread (many players, like me, would only see the thread as another blacklist, only so long as Joker kept it in a "list" format).

But by then, I (along with a couple others) had already offended Joker (who had already put up with others who misread the thread as well), so anything I said after that was met with another argument. Before any resolution could be made, the thread was locked.

Again, this is my interpretation, and I am only posting this because the majority of the posts on the thread were deleted.

I am going to respectfully state that I do not like the fact the thread was locked. I believe thread-locking should only be used in the worst of circumstances, and I think that the thread wasn't in too bad of a shape. Locking a thread forces a conflict to end prematurely, basically preventing any sort of resolution to the issue between the arguing parties. It's like separating two people in a heated argument. They'll never get to the point where they might make up and say sorry, and they'll leave with animosity in their hearts.

Also, when posts are deleted or prevented, it forces others to guess/interpret what happened, leading to more disdain among players. Unless one of the players commit a bannable offense, I think they should be able to solve a conflict on their own. This is what I think Dave is trying to get at.

Of course, I am not a moderator, but the person who decided to lock the thread is one, and is one for a reason. They believed the thread needed to be locked, and while I do not agree, I can respect the decision.

In the end, I find it ridiculous how worked up people can get over a game, myself included. Usually this is a indication that I need to take a little break from the game, so I think that's what I'll do.

Lunas idea of getting a players consent to go on the thread was a good idea actually. I have seen forums that make it a bankable offense to to mention someones name in something with out their consent. I am not saying make it a bankable offense because that seems a bit fare but the idea of it is good. For instance you could not use a persons name on something that would possibly degrade them unless you were reporting them for breaking some in game rule like team killing or continues cursing and vulgar language.

If a thread can just be locked and or deleted just because some argument or disagreements or even a debate, then y did that godofgods affair last over 2 months?!?! We had to suffer his harrassment and fight starting and insults before someone finally said enough is enough. Y was that allowed to continue for so long if it could have been locked at the start. Yalls (Mods) excuse for allowing it is what... O yea... it wasn't harming anyone and no forum rules where being broken. So what rule is being broke by having an open debate? Seems alot of unnecessary threads are allowed to exist while threads that aren't harming anyone and are just debates get locked. Sounds to me like some mods are abusing their powers.

Just learn to share your toys and be nice. That will solve this. Also no shooting at Allied or you get a time out in the corner of fiery death as your plane spirals into a tree! Now run along and play nice kiddies!

I appluad your idea that strife or tension could cause a thread to be locked. However if this is so, as kestrel has asked why did the tgog business continue as long as it did? That went on and on and strife was deliberately caused, especially his intrusion on the JDRock thread. And by the way he was back in game the other day. I believe a picture of it is on the 121st Miisfits thread.

Jackson the forum is a place for people to vent their frustrations about the goings on in game, The main part I have a problem with is you said you'll lock ANY thread talking about droppers, SKing, ect... That's not right and I think you know it. The forum never has been nar will it ever be a General Jackson Utopia where people only post the things Jackson wants to hear or see. This isn't Burger King you don't get it your way. You have to let players vent or they will leave.

funnt seeing as how my thread was not a dropper thread at all...jist goes to show how much people kno about the actual threads they are talking about, and whose to say what direction ot was goin inwhen it had barley got started before some turned it into a dropper discussiom.someone can I and completely ruined the direction its was supposed to go in the thread was about shwoing who used what tactics so that they could be countered before actually playing with the pilot but since everyone has there own idea they decided to turn it into something that it wasn't.

first off dave, it does not bother me to see threads that pertain to droppers, chasers etc....The problem is when a thread starts to go off track and turn into an argument which ends ups causing tensions to arrise. After reading said posts, I felt that it needed to be locked because I noticed it was starting to get out of hand. Read the forum rules and etiquette please. If these rules were followed to the letter, then a lot more threads, posts and users would be deleted and banned respectively ......you want to waste your time dogging me about how I moderate this forum??? Then have at it. I don't mind one bit. As I always say...I do the best I can at the job that I do here!!

Dixie aren't you afraid Jackson may someday stop suddenly? And besides I could not see where Any obscene language was being used, or where any threats were made, it looked to me as if they were having a heated yes discussion, one that the infinite General Jackson should have stayed out of. And I think they would have in time agreed to disagree but having never gotten that chance.... Well you can bet there will more threads started and more fights started as well. The locking of a thread just because one person doesn't like what's being said is not right, ESPECIALLY when that persons a MODERATOR his job or purpose here is to guide or lead not to delete everything or lock it.
