Okay,
Davy, you make some really good points about Global Warming, terrorism, and our nation and such.
In regards to Global Warming: You are correct, it is a natural process in the Earth's history. The earth will periodically warm and cool. However, the earth didn't know that it would have about 7 billion people with gas cars and burning coal plants. So, in this aspect, global warming and everything that comes along with it is accelerated, a fact that the UN Report seemed to confirm (you may need to send me a link, cause I don't know if I got the right one).
When I was replying to Pedrinho's remark on a sad sad future and that we need to pray for our children this is where I differ. I'm not an overly religious man, although I am a bar mitzvah of the Reform Judaism. So, I know religion in the Jewish sense. But, growing up as a young teen/adult, I've realized that religion will never be able to physically bring about the change that our country and the world needs to evolve and continue to be successful.
You are right, our country is having some big problems, but it isn't heading down a bad road. You have to be an optimist to instill change, and to recognize the inherent goodness of others. Only then will the Americans, become more trustful of themselves, bipartisan, and most importantly happy.
Terrorism, global warming, corruption, left v. right, etc. These are all issues that I'm confident the American public will need to get over and will accomplish in time. Just as we have always demonstrated throughout our history.
When I say let us not pray for our country, I state that because praying will not make the change you would want to see this country enjoy. It starts out with meaningful action, involvement in our government, and education. Praying brings hope, but action brings about change. You need a combination of both. But the change is something I firmly believe in of which we need the most.
