It's like tennis, cycling, and tiddly winks. PRACTICE. And as far as I can tell, the size of the device doesn't matter. You can see better with bigger screens, but you can maneuver faster with smaller screens. Ultimately, the best players could win with virtually any of the devices (recent iPhone, recent android phone, recent tablet).

Basically, when you see certain names, you will be killed a lot! More practice against good players will make you one of those people.

Manfred

PS: if that's you in the pic, then you know all about it! It's all the same game of getting better.
PPS: and 60 inch screens don't matter. If you keep getting killed from far away, jink and jive, and get that person in a turning dogfight.

Some play on Tablets, others on Phones, newer players are even on laptops and PC's. Each device has its ups and downs. It amazes me that someone can play on a phone. I can barely see on my IPad ( I have to wear reading glasses ).

Well MrGreen sir, I'm on a phone.
I can't see the planes untill I almost crash into them. I try to aim in the center just under the name, and hope I'll hit.

Sup all, I've been using a iPad mini 1rst Ed. But have also used a nexus 7 But was just a few ago on my nexus 5 but really way to small can't track on the mini map. I also have it on a Asus T100 which I like but need to get used to a controller or using the on screen joystick because the tilting idea seems to lose speed in the turning. I was thinking of starting a thread on hardware and tweaks that were all using. Back in the days of my Dooming me and some friends would have sessions and keep letting each other know what we were doing as far as upgrades or tweaks to memory etc. Any thoughts

Yeah...I believe it doesn't matter what device. I play on a tablet and was shot down all the time at the beginning. Still have my days...but at least I can hit a couple now and then.

I have a 3.5" iPod screen... It has more to do with skill than device, there will always be people better equipped in every aspect of life, you just have to over come.

After being dominated By all you Hotshot killers when I first came to the big boy servers, I thought the same thing, It has to be the device, as I was on a pretty crappy one at the time.

I then did what I do in life when bit by something like this Dogfight Bug, and promptly went out and spent thousands of dollars on top end equipment for all platforms (Windows 8/Android/Apple,ios).

Including A new Hotrod Computer with Big HD widescreen and programmable Joystick controller with the intentions of eventually hooking the HDMI out to My Sharp 70 inch Quattron HD TV, because I had thought the same thing to begin with.

The bigger the screen, the quicker I'll see them before they see Me.

The following information, along with a lot of other equipment information is what I have found to be true regarding a Big screen, and any advantage.

The Pixel Per Square inch capability of the higher end tablets exceeds that of the HD big screen TV's with the exception of the latest Ultra HD 4K televisions that are just hitting the market.
In addition depending on the PC you have, there is a limitation on the definition capability of not only the video card in the PC, but also the Definition limitations of the Application Software itself.

I find that there are slight differences in the effectiveness of each of the devices and they're software platforms, and how well My old crusty eyes can see that little dot of an enemy airplane in the distance, and the ability for Me to line My cross hairs and/or tracers up with that little dot.

And the computer/HD big screen combo is actually at a slight disadvantage in My opinion compared to something like the ipad for long range precision shooting, especially when considering the keyboard/joystick control to tablet/Phone accelerometer precision differences.

I'm not trying to sound like an expert, I could be wrong on some details, its just what I have found to be My opinion so far.

I do know one, or two decent precision shooters playing with PC, but ultimately I would have to agree with everyone else here, and say that your abilities for getting good with what device you have learned to use is going to be the main basis for your success.
I hope this helps and wasn't too long for all my buddies! :)

Boy O boy do I attest to that statement just wonder sometimes as far as what's running or not running in background and tweaks I hear and read being done to wifi settings or ram requirements and weather it would have anything to do with lag and the smoothness of the game running how much it plays in the flying aiming part of the game and human reaction. I have been trying on screen joystick, moga pro, the gyro part looking for something that gives me a decent hit ratio so far whew. Practice Practice Practice just going to take a while to achieve for me anyhow I'll keep at it tho beats a lot of other things I could be doing.

I play mostly on tablet, bit about 20% on phone. Like bell said you get good at aiming just under the name. I do the same on tablet and can down most in a head on. If you aren't good at a head on shootout practice or don't fly straight, then get in close and dogfight them.

I play mostly on my Nexus 7 tablet because it has the best all-around performance of the devices I have. I sometimes play on my Windows Phone 8 when I'm not at home but my kdr and results are about the same. My planes turn a lot faster on the WP8 and the screen resolution is sharper, but the game doesn't run as smooth and despite the better resolution it's harder to see enemy planes.
My Samsung Galaxy S2 is my worst device and I never do better than 2:1 kdr with it, because the screen resolution is really bad in comparison.
My last device is an HTC Raider with dual core processor but it has a cracked screen - if it weren't broken it would be my second favorite.

My hat is off to Big C for how well he does on the iPod, I tried DF on my son's and didn't do very well with it.

Like everyone is saying, practice makes perfect - when you're comfortable with and used to your device, the actual device is less important than your attitude and willingness to try different methods. I get my ass handed to me by players with devices that aren't capable of what mine can do - these are the players I respect the most.

I play on a 3 year old phone. The main problem is that the screen resolution is so low I can't see enemy planes unless they're right on top of me. But I'm such a lousy shot anyway I guess it doesn't matter.

Nah, I've always been a lousy shot. Heck, Brian Strachan has TEN TIMES the kills I have, and I've been playing as long, if not longer than he has.

That's why I always used to get so mad at Plur for parking and being a spectator. He is a fantastic player, and it made me see red when he was on my team but refused to join. Plur, you are the furthest thing from a lousy shot.
