I hate to get so wrapped up in a game that it has to come to these kinds of things, they are games after all, but I am afraid I offended Von Len in a fight today. So, to that I am apologizing. I try to fight as fair as possible and do not like it when I feel someone is offended at me other than the usual ticked off that I shot them down. There were others in the game, and I am writing this for their viewing also.

I was in a tank, sitting about as far away as you can from a base but still get shots in, and I was getting aim on some hangars. I hit two, then turned my gun some and fired again hoping to hit more. Von happened to be taxing midway down the runway at the same moment the mortar came in.

I was then subsequently accused of spawn killing, and was let known that I could be banned for such offenses.

I apologize Von, it was not intentional, as in I was aiming for your airplane. I wish I was that good, but I would put that to different use. I was shooting hangars, which I had just done prior to your demise, and trying to hit more.

I really hope you were not offended and they were just heat of the moment comments. I have had those before. But if you were offended then please accept my apology and look at my track record to see that I am not in the business of spawn killing.

I enjoy flying with you and have never thought ill of you in anyway.

Two Ton, a long range indirect fire spawn kill from a tank takes sublime skill or very good luck. Either way it should be commended. I'm sure Von would have commended you if he knew the circumstances - I would have.

You HIT A PLANE, FROM WAY BACK, the only shameful thing about that is that you didn't give us lessons on pin point accuracy, we expect the lesions to be forthcoming.

Hi Two Ton, I was in that game on your side and u were very far from the Base, and u hit Von Len. So, that is not Spawnkilling.

Well, thanks guys, but I just want to make sure there are no hard feelings. I am sure it is inevitable during the game at some point with someone, but I don't want to let it go unchecked if I can help it.

I know I did nothing wrong, but I could have been quicker to apologize during the game. I was focused on getting as many hangars as possible so I let some of the comments slip by, and could not see some of them because of the bomb view window covering up the chat.

Not sure if mean old men are supposed to apologize....hehehe.....but seeing how I am going to be apart of the same squad(I assume) I figure it was prudent of me to clear the air. Plus, for those up and coming pilots who were around when it happened, don't want to get a bad rap going around here.

Von is a great guy and great pilot. I have to say, wow nice shot. In a bomb mission that's to be expected...and totally different from a DF match where someone sits in a tank waiting for the next plane to spawn. What you did isn't a sk...but definitely a long shot...unless you're Davy, kes, or jaz...it would be an everyday thing for them.

Yep, got to love when someone drops a bomb on you. You can almost feel the pain through the screen.

I talked with Von, he was just letting me know as a friendly gesture in case I did not know about spawn killing.

I thought that might be the case, but like to keep things like this out in the open so no hard feelings can "spawn" in the dark.

If you were far away, I'm sure you shot before he even spawned. But good work getting a plane from so far.

I've intentionally spawn killed from a tank...from Duckwing mountain. The planes I managed to hit were more impressed than upset.

It takes some skill but mostly luck. Good job! You deserve a kill for such a shot.

Two ton i tip my hat to you for coming here like this. I myself have done almost the same thing. Almost because in my case it was a team member on a bomb run when I lobbed one in and hit them. Don't know who was more surprised gangnamstile or me. We laughed about it after. This is a long way from spawnkilling at the end of the runway with a tank. Do it again, then we might start to wonder!

I've spawn killed from a tank while sitting on the runway... Way back when no one gave a crap.... You sure shouldn't beat yourself up for that. Rather, include me in those lessons Davy requested. Sounds like awesome shooting to me.

Well, hopefully this all was not taken the wrong way. I remember when I first found the forum and started reading about all the spawn kill stuff going on. I can see that there are strong opinions on each side, and then others like me in the middle.

So this was just really an apology because it is a game, but because we are all humans playing it and not competing against a computer, then it means people can get hurt feelings. If it was not a game, then it would not matter. Nor would it if we were just fighting a computer.

But even in real combat there is some chivalry.

However just to be clear here, You were sitting right behind the runway and shot Me as soon as I spawned, after driving around the base and hitting hangers at point blank range.
I'm not into getting any drama going with anyone, I'm just here to do my own thing.
I've made my share of mistakes when new also, everyone needs time to learn (Right the other Von? )
But if it had been an errant long distance shot, Me and the other player that I will keep anonymous at this time that warned you about it being something you could be banned for, wouldn't have said a word.
Because I've been here plenty long enough to know the difference.
Again, no big deal, just didn't want to see you get banned if it was the wrong person, but I do have to keep it real, and We should leave it at that, because as long as its not team killing, I'm not concerned with what other people do.

Were you in a bomb the base game, and there in your tank to take the hangars out? If you waxed a few planes while in the process of taking out their hangars, I'll defend you to the end. If you were there just to fry some planes without any other reason, I don't personally care, but you are on your own.

The way I'm understanding this is that you were taking out their hangars, which IS the point of the mission. If you have to knock out a few of those pesky enemy planes to get it done, then so be it. I'd do the same.

Well, I am taken back by all of this now. Not sure what to think. After I thought about this for a bit this morning all I can say is, "Well played Von Len, Well played".

See, I am now in a spot where it is impossible to dig out from. He played the odds of whether or not I had an actual picture of the situation. He also has indicated that another, unnamed person, is witness to this. All of that, combined with the fact that he has been around here longer than I, makes it almost impossible for others to decide one way or the other.

It is a game after all, so I am not going to take this personal at all. It takes a lot of guts to call a man a liar. So that's all I can say to that.

But to answer your question Jacklpe, I was in a BTB game. I was in a tank bombing hangars. If I remember right I got 4 of them. I did hit Von Len, he was halfway down the runway. I did not hit any other plane during this process. I'll still defend the fact that I was not even close to the runway. I wish I could remember who it was that destroyed me, but my memory is not that good because when I am tanking I tend not to chat because it is very hard to do so, and all my focus is on aiming.

There are a million different smart alec remarks I could say, but I am really unsure about the whole of this now. I guess I should have just left this all at the game and never brought it here. Just trying to be friendly is all.

I'm not a spawn killer, don't care about those who do...its a game...I just simply choose not too.

Whats interesting is I would love for someone to take a screen shot of my actually getting my tank to a base. Ever since getting into the big boy servers I have maybe made it to the base in a tank once. I don't even try anymore, I park in spots I know where to aim the tank barrel, and I stay there. I might move around a little here and there, but actually getting it to the base is almost impossible for me.

Von came in and acknowledged stating no big deal. This does not need to get dramatic. There are other more important things to worry about like glitching planes, lag, and such. My opinion, lets move on...if it happens again, becomes a pattern, then address it more seriously. My two cents.

Yea, but its pointless. He would not have given an exact location if he was just seeing explosions. I know what happened. This is all just a big "jokes on you" thing, or VL is serious about it.

Either way I'm good with what happened and have no need in asking that question. If memory serves me right, there were only two guys on the red team at that point, may have been three, but we had them outnumbered. So either he, or the other destroyed me and they know exactly where they did it. No where near the rear of the runway.

I made an apology public because of the other players that were in the game. I did know know who all was there at the time, so I figured this way I could get it out there in case they come on here to see. My apology is not for what I did, but for the way it was taken by a guy who I have had respect for since starting to play this game.

If it was one of the goof ball players calling me a spawn killer I more than likely would not have paid much mind to it.

But yea, there are a lot of other things that someone could talk about, I just figured this was a good thing to do in spite of all the hatred toward spawn killing. At what point do you consider it happening again though? Don't take this the wrong way, but that insinuates that I did spawn kill on purpose. Not that you meant it like that, but it could be construed as such.

I am really trying not to take this all personal. It is a game. So maybe I was trying to make it more than just a game. Maybe I was thinking that it could be a place where some guys(gals) could get to gather and have some fun. Like shooting pool at a bar or something.

Like I said, maybe this is a "joke is on you Two Ton" thing or an ritual newbies have to go through. I'm cool with that. I have jeered people playing pool before at a bar. But I also know it changes things a whole lot when a guy calls another guy a liar when playing pool and he really means it.

I'm not the kind of guy who gets his feeling hurt and no tears are being shed over here. I am not mad either. Just taken back by it all. Kind of just slapped me in the face when I read it first thing this morning, not at all what I would have expected.

Yeah, I'm not trying to extend any drama. Just thought I'd suggest a way for you to clear the air, since your story has been indicated as false, you're saying his story is wrong, and I do see a way that two people could have misunderstood what happened.

Well nevermind, he says you were right there but he doesn't care, you say you weren't and that he's amping the drama, no one else cares.

My apologies..you're correct. That was vague... The point at which I would blacklist someone for spawn killing from a tank would be when that person, in a DF match parks the tank at the spawn point and takes out planes as they spawn. In a bth game, if a player managed to get a tank to the runway...well, if a shell hits them...oh well. I see it no different than a plane coming in with suppression fire. Others may see it different..but a tank is trying to survive as well as the planes in a bombing mission. I may balk at getting hit...but not something for which i would blacklist. Id lick my wounds and try to get my plane up and in a position to take out the tank. I'll admit, in a btc game, I will try to kill two birds with one stone (shell). It allows me some time to get out. Ive landed many bombs in the right spot...took out two planes and bombed the carrier in my last one.

LOL, you know, if this wasn't such a touchy subject there are a lot of good comments that could be made about it all.

I suppose in the end I am the one who started this drama train down the tracks. I had my reasons for starting the thread, but it seems that sometimes there are things just better left unsaid.

I remember the first time I did that. I thought, this is interesting.... But the timing has to be just right and usually I am good just to make it there or if in a tank to actually get a shot to hit the stinking moving target!

I almost fell in the floor laughing one time I was shot down by a carrier and was fixing to take aim in the parachute when a bomb hit me after being released from a guy taking off. I said to the red, "ns", the red who did it said, "that was a bomb!", I thought "I know, nearly knocked my teeth out".

Its all fun and games till someone pokes an eye out...
