Hi there,

I've been cleaning up the forum a bit with all repetitive content from gog, transparency and mod squad blaming.

I think I need to post a brief note about this.
There is no such thing as "mod squad". Moderators are in fact from different and competing squads, and we all think and feel very different about many different issues. Usually, on private we fight/argue and write at extend before taking a decision. It is not some kind of dictator secret society role, when we kick or ban someone that it's on the edge of what's accepted or not accepted, we've been thinking about it for a while.

You see, sometimes lines are not that clear. If you do something illegal, you are out, but if you are just annoying, you are not banned. But if you annoy the whole community to a point that it turns into a making the game miserable for everyone, then you already crossed the line. And that line doesn't get usually crossed in an hour so mods may think it is ok and then it keeps generating more and more noise until the majority agrees it hit the edge.

Anyway, to not make this a long long post. About transparency. Sometimes we cannot be transparent. Yeah, we would love to, but it's just not possible. We can't be posting every time we delete a thread saying why or who did it. You have to trust us that we did it for a reason. It is ridiculous to have to explain every single time. We do when we feel it is necessary and we even send a PM to explain.

On other cases we agree we can improve transparency. For instance, when you are banned/muted, I'm already working on a system that will enforce a reason. So if you get banned/muted you can come back here and check why it was so. Hopefully it will be implemented soon (hey, these things keep delaying game updates but we have to do it). I'm trying to also work on a system that when you report people, it attaches a screenshot. Unfortunately this seems to make some phones crash because when you do it, the memory usage shoots up and it runs out of memory so I'm still not happy with its state. Right now, screen captures have to be taken manually.

Sorry for the long post, for deleting some threads, for not writing as much and for not having released squad wars yet. Trust me, we are working hard on it.

I missed this thread when originally posted. The term "ModSquad" was coined by me and only to simplify making reference to we Moderators. And, well...it's a cool name. But no, as Joaquin points out, we're very different people from different walks of life and different (or no) Dogfight squads. The combination of personalities and perspectives that produces the arguments Joaquin mentioned also accounts for why we function as well as we do. We each impose our fair share of bans, mutes and kicks in the course of the average day/week/month and I like to think we trust each others judgment, but we also thrash it out when an issue or complaint captures the attention of a large portion of the community. I've had knock down drag out disputes with fellow Mods and have always come out the other side with my respect for them intact.

Joaquin takes a lot of heat born out of frustration with lag, glitches, update complaints, you name it. It needs to be said that I've never observed him being anything less than 102% devoted to this community and to making Dogfight exactly as good and as much fun as he possibly can. If there's a game developer out there who's more dedicated and responsive to his player base I've never seen him.

Thanks for bumping it. It seems that this stuff always comes up regarding one particular mod. The rest seem to not cause a lot of issues, and when they do, it is pretty quickly accepted and we all move on. I've had my spats over time with a few of the mods, but I've found all but one of them to be fair and reasonable (and even sometimes right). :) Unfortunately, there is that one... He seems like a nice enough guy, but he just doesn't have the people skills necessary to do the job sometimes. I guess that's a pretty good good/bad ratio though, so why complain too much?

Hey - give all.the mods the respect they are actually judges for the entire game. If you ask me that is alot. Every mod in this game is a fair mam they're have a job to do and they do it for the better. They don't do it for a power trip. They do it for all of us. Cause face it we all can access. Really stupid once in a bit
