I am sure many ppl have made posts similar to this so I am only going to say this once and that is all

here are MY i.e. as in only MY rules for holding a bomb or dropping a bomb.

1: If I am only friendly on radar and I am confronted with 3 or more nmies I will release bomb to
dogfight.
2: If I start to roll and I have to defend a field I will release my bomb to dogfight.
3: If I see 2 nmies coming and 1 is maneuvering too quickly to be carrying a bomb, I will release my bomb
to dogfight.
4: If numbers are uneven i.e. 5 to 2 or 6 to 2 or 4 to 1 whatever, I will NEVER carry a bomb until more
friends show up.
5: If I cannot out turn a higher ranked pilot I will drop my bomb to dogfight.

Whether some ppl agree with this or not I could care less.

~S~ have fun this will be my first and only post in the general BS forums

Welcome to the forum.

This is a long discussed topic and in the end do whatever you want as far as I'm concerned. I don't share your specific views but I respect your right to have them. In general, with me, if I have to get into a prolong turning dogfight then I drop. Otherwise, I try to bomb.

In the end I've found that the players that complain typically want you to conform to the method that they play at (and are best at) in order to gain an advantage. Just have fun and shoot red!

I carried a bomb in a btc game a few weeks back when outnumbered 5:1 I won the game because I had a bomb (and a decent tank run at one point)

Reaper, and everyone else here's some food for thought. Tactically speaking, historically, up until the advent of modern strike fighters like the f-18 pilots had to make a choice: try to fight in to bomb the target with the added weight and drag of external ordnance, or punch the payload off to defend themselves. The only aspect if this that's accurately modeled in this game is the lower speed and lack of maneuverability when carrying ordnance. Early in my df career i dropped upon seeing reds. I also snuck so much people who played me regularly posted sentries at their bases bc of it (kinda flattering really). Now that I've learned to fight with a bomb on board, i try to fight with it but die alot in the process. I guess in the end do what makes the most tactical sense for your team.

I don't really mind any of the bad tactics played out there. I believe you should just play the hand you're dealt as well as you can. I don't report dirty players because it would be hypocritical - we've all done these bad things as upstart juniors in the past. But I do take them on, and criticise and abuse them in game. So, for what it's worth, here are my eight commandments on the topic.
1. ALWAYS CARRY, UNLESS YOU SPAWN IN A RED MOSH PIT!
2. PICK THE SPIRALLING DROPPER EARLY AND LOCK ON
3. PREDICT HIS PATTERN AND LEAD YOUR AIM (for example Gen Jackson prefers a left hand corkscrew)
4. BE SATISFIED WITH ONE HIT - A HALF DECENT ALLY DOING THE SAME WILL HIT HIM AGAIN
5. IF HE PASSES, ASSESS YOUR OPTIONS. WILL HE TAKE ON THOSE BEHIND YOU OR TURN AND CHASE? EVEN IF HE IS GOING TO TAKE YOU DOWN, YOU MAY BE AT THE TANKER's SWEET SPOT WHERE YOU CAN GET A FEW ROUNDS IN THE AIR BEFORE YOUR INEVITABLE INCINERATION
6. IF YOU GET THROUGH, SODOMISE HIM ON YOUR HOME RUN IF YOU GET THE CHANCE. DROP YOUR LOAD (on a hangar if he's not parked on the Tarmac) AND LEAVE NOISILY.
7. THROUGHOUT, TAUNT THE COWARD.
8. DO THIS AS A TEAM AND, WIN OR LOSE, YOU WILL FORCE THE SKANK TO RETHINK HIS APPROACH IN FUTURE

Not an insult, General, but definitely an allegation. What do you say in your defence?

Nice post Ronnie, but you should've been a little more clandestine with the info on Gen Jack, now he's wise to it!!
Still I guess we can start shooting to the right of him huh.........now he's confused, does he go left, does he go right, does he just sit tight.

Do a bit of both and a bit of minimum movement weaving. If they can’t see your pattern then they will have a hell of a time shooting you.
