We all know the drill.
Someone does something in a game.
It goes to back to the forum.
It gets discussed and fought over in squads, blacklist thread, messages to mods ect.
That's all fine, but the problem is it happens every other day! And everyone has a different idea of what "rule breaking" is.
Why not just have a rule book.
"Was that a spawnkill?"
"No it wasn't."
"he was putting on cover fire to bomb. "
"But he was to close"
"I've seen morafs do it."
"That still doesn't make it right."
"Why not."...........
When thers a problem like this ....
What's the rule book say?
So I think this would help a lot of issues floating around the forum.
And clarify a lot of GREY area.
Great idea Fox, but who would write it? I mean, I volunteer to write it - that's the easy part - but then there would be a whole thread of disagreements with the rules that are open to interpretation, and there would be a ton of them.
So, to avoid that, Zuperman and his team would have to write it, but I doubt they have the time or the desire to do it.
Perhaps instead of a "Rule" book, a book of etiquette would be better accepted by the masses. Others have posted similar guidelines but it just never seems to stick. The other problem is the thousands of players who don't come here to the forum, so to be effective any rules or guidelines would have to be posted in the actual game.
Something else that occurred to me is; there isn't much point investing time and effort into a rule or guideline book here on the forum because its rarely us here on the forum who break the rules, it's the anonymous players in the game that are the repeat offenders. I can't remember the last time there was a problem with anyone here on the forum that went unresolved, because we're all known to each other here and respect each other.
I agree though Fox, a set of rules or guidelines really would keep things clear, I just think it has to come from Echoboom to have any effect.
