Saturn. Taken with an iPhone (afocal) thru an Orion xt10 using a 6mm ep. Very poor conditions, moon 98% full. I had to give it a shot after weeks of wind and clouds.

If you build it, I will come.......and bomb it !!!

Hi guys, been a while.

For those of us in Australia, tonight is the second lunar eclipse for the year. it will start around 8:18pm Eastern Daylight Time, and will be finished at 10:35pm.

I hope the viewing is as good as the last one. It was an excellent view. If I can get motivated and get my camera out, I'll post photos.

Happy viewing.

About a 4 sec exposure somewhere at mid-eclipse:

Edit: Actually the photo says 1.6 sec. It felt like eternity - I didn't have a tripod, and had the camera propped on a wall with my cell phone standing under the lens to prop it up. --J-- I should have prepped for this one, but I was just thinking of watching it and going back to bed. Imaging was an afterthought!

I watched the eclipse from my backyard! It was amazing.

We also had a partial solar eclipse here in San Diego a couple years back. It's on my bucket list to see a total solar eclipse one day! :cheer:
We liberate from our negative will to nothingness, and once having said yes to the instant, the affirmation is contagious. It bursts into a chain that knows no limit. To say yes to one instant is to say yes to all of existence.

Are we expecting a meteor shower tonight? I live in England, so it is already dark here. Popped outside for a quick smoke between games and looked towards the plough as it is a nice clear night. Saw 3 meteors within the space of a minute. Hope the skies are clear for the rest of you, could be an eventful night! ;)

We had a total solar eclipse back in '99, got a fleeting glimpse of totality for about 30 seconds between the clouds. Awesome to see with your own eyes rather than seeing televised footage. Well worth travelling down to Cornwall to see!

Saw the meteors about 20 minutes ago but the total solar eclipse was in August 1999 if I recall correctly. If you get the chance, pop out and take a butchers at the sky tonight, bro!

There is a lunar eclipse due this weekend, tonight (the 4th) if you are in Australia. This will be the shortest eclipse for at lest a century, so get in early if you plan to watch :)

The eclipse will start at 21:15 Australian Easter Summer Time. Total eclipse will be at 23:00.
