Take the money you would spend on new engine and get a better car.

If you build it, I will come.......and bomb it !!!

But the only thing wrong is the engine plus it's cheaper than any other car plus I can fix almost anything that's wrong with it if something goes wrong

What Jacob said...

There's something to the idea of usable engine life. Big parts and little parts all wear with age. If you can afford the new engine, go for it. It will likely cost you less time, money, aggravation over the long haul.

My two cents worth...

It all depends on what kind of shape the rest of the car is in and what your plans are for the car in the future. Are you thinking of keeping the car for a long while or are you going to sell in a year or two? Is the transmission in sound condition along with front end components(brakes, struts, ball joints, etc). Also this car is pushing 15 years old and is losing value with every passing year. Your call, if your an experienced technician and can do all the work yourself, then rebuild your engine(should be rebuildable unless you have damaged your block. This is not the quickest way but most likely the cheapest.
