I've just tried loading 4.4.39, which I know had some tweaks to stop it crashing on older devices, but unfortunately the game just crashes in a different place now. I still can't get as far as actual flying, so I think this may finally be it.

Anyway, this, and the general problems every time there has been an update have led me to wonder if we can have a 'classic' version of the game as a separate app, for those of us on older devices or who just prefer things as they were. I mean sticking a version of the game as it was back in March or thereabouts up and just leaving it.

I appreciate that games have to keep moving forward to keep up with the latest devices and to attract new players, but when it means that established players can no longer play, where's the harm in putting an old version up? Like a retirement home for those of us still flying BE2Cs when the cool kids all have Bristol F2Bs?

what phone do you have? the changes I made on the last update was to have "classic" and "new" on the same release and it will switch automatically, so it should work unless apple/android block it, otherwise it's a bug.
Let me know what phone do you use to play.

It gets to the countdown to get into a multiplayer game, but does not enter the game, just crashes to homescreen
