Iv been thinking of this for a while, and I know its been done before,
But it was in a game today that it really sunk in.

It was a one sided game (bomb the carrier) and only one red left in the game .
He was a newbie, with a score of 0-12.
Finally I called out to "be nice and let him up".
Then he said "don't bother" .
Thats one thing that really ruins a game.

He soon decided to take off and I started a lazy turn with him, then followed him.
Feeling sorry for him ,I didn't shoot. ( im not looking for praise hear )

Then he locked on one of my team and was secsesfull in shooting him down.
Then he said. ..

"WOW MY FIRST KILL!"

Now that makes you stand back and think about what that extra kill means to you....

Valid point Fox, i'm a noob at this game myself 2nd week in but I've played enough multiplayer games to see the effect it can have turning players away or bitter. All games need new players its what keep them fresh and the interest going without new blood a game can slowly die off. Bear mind also it is a sharp learning on level 8+ for the noob.

Whene we use to be able to fly with aspirants & lieutenants, I'd let them take target practice on me in 1-1 games. Still do with the players that have the rank (can't remeber name but has a little tent with a star in it) those guys, but the servers fill up pretty quick these days. Some don't even say anything, so its game on. Good way to learn to, getting hosed twenty times in a row.

I like shadowing noobs too, but I tell them that they need manuever more and tell them that I could a shot them down.

I wonder is it possble to let certain high level players in to noob servers, for traing purposes...or would that be too tempting for even the most saintly. Piranhas in the guppy tank....

I agree some what. Let them have a shot or 2 now and again. Unless they start trash talking.

On the other hand getting my ass handed to me about 500 times in a row made me a much better player. Also made me viscous towards Skers. It was a common thing to be totally destroyed by an Air Marshal or 2 on the runway back then.

I played a game the other day with a guy that hasn't been here in a while due to medical probs. I may have let myself be killed. Who knows? Only me. I may have been playing my hardest too.

Lets also go easy on them when they committ sneak attacks if i think back to my noob days
That was my only way of gaining some respect from teammates and besides exploring the terrain outside of the area between
The valleys is something we shud all do more of as marshals tend to have tunnel vision

We can learn alot from noobs

My only prob with noobs is if u praise them in a game they tend to get clingy n chatty :\

Ya they need a server just for training.
You would get no credit for kills,so its all for the purpose of learning.
Its a dogfight school!

yeah i do it very often. I see someone new with horrible stats that the poor guy must be getting desperate and i purposely place myself in front and wait to be brought down. It's actually fun because sometimes they take almost a minute to hit me but they get so happy when they finally get me.
They are very low ranks, all of us were learning at some point.

Other times I'm just testing the game and I need to be killed to test the parachute or tank, so I try to place myself in front of the lowest ranks so they can get some motivation. They are surprised I suck so much when someone mentions I'm the author lol

But I suppose you spend your time mostly fixing dogfight than playing.
And you do a awesome job keeping this game going by the way.
