In honor of Pedrinho's inspirational love of music, and also to parallel Faces of Dogfight, this thread is a place for forum members to post their musical recordings. Any instrument, any style. Singing too. If you're like me and have never recorded yourself, I hope this thread will offer encouragement. Ped is making me want to take the dive and record something... maybe if I see someone else post first, I'll jump in.

I am planning making some movies of me performing my poor music not-skills. These movies will be made of 3-4 small movies on the same screen, each one showing me playing a different instrument, singing, just to let a bit of me for Laura in the future (she is 2 years new, and I am 43, you never know...)
But I never got time, nor inspiration, nor the hardware (good microphones, decent accoustic, etc), nor a push, things needed to begin it.
Perhaps now that I see that Manfred is thinking about using his phone to record it, well... F3ck microphones. Lets do it.
Hope I can mix a samba for the next week... perhaps.

That is really cool! I am much more the imitator than the originator. Sometimes themes float through my head, but most often I am not compelled to write them down. And sometimes themes hit me when I am playing, but most often I am not compelled to record them. Bravo to you.

Maybe (Perhaps!) I can find a quiet moment in the house this weekend to record a tune on the phone.

Here you go Ped. Complete with mistakes . And with a low quality smartphone mic, probably over-modulated. The recording sounds a little brash. And the phone moved during the song. It's all I could do with my few minutes while the family was out of the house. In fact, they came in right on the last note (which is why I chopped the vid before the last note died out fully lol).

I grew up listening to songs like this, through my parents. "It's the Talk of the Town" composed by Jerry Livingston, 1933. Years ago, I bought a CD by Joe Augustine and loved his interpretation. My version doesn't hold a candle to his but it's my "by ear" attempt based on his.

You guys have opened the floodgates. Old classic, maybe not what you had in mind for Tommy Dorsey... 1927 Hoagy Carmichael wrote it an played it with Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. This is closer to the Nat King Cole version. Same caveats, complete with mistakes, but I kept on chugging.

I play music too, just none of my songs are on youtube, yet. You can post anything music on my thread, I need people. So please, if you all would migrate to my thread, maybe we could merge threads or something similar.
