This year I erected a flag in my 'yard' (garden), so in preparation for today's anniversary I bought your glorious flag, my question is.....

Should it fly at half mast or fly high with pride?

I know half mast is respect but I was wondering what you do and see with your flags on today's date?

Thanks in advance and I hope my non native flag bearing isn't at all offensive..... (We lost 67 brits but think the Stars and Stripes
is a more fitting tribute.)

Jacob,

That's a touching tribute, thank you.

My U.S. flag is on a smallish pole, 25 feet. So the pole does not have a pulley, and instead it telescopes, with a top fixed clip and a floating lower clip. It can also accommodate another floating clip, so that two flags can be flown one above the other.

The reason I am telling you all that is that I can only fly my flag at full height, but I *wish* I could fly it at half mast for 9/11. Last year with the addition of Benghazi, I really wanted to fly half mast, and was thinking of flying just the second flag height and running a rope between the fixed clip and the first floating clip. But we decided that it would look kind of kludgey, so we flew the flag proudly at full height.

Are you able to fly two flags?

We will remember all of the innocents, from numerous countries, that suffered and died that day, as well as those who later put their lives on the line to help prevent such an attack from happening again.

Manfred

I have read that in the U.S., the U.S. flag should be at the top. We sometimes fly state flags or other flags (I have a Remember 9/11 flag), and they go on the bottom. By inference, if the protocols are similar, then your own country's flag should be first.

Thank u jacob!!!!!! This means alot. I live in north carolina but my class was actually trying to go on a field trip to new york for the week. Luckally our school didnt raise enough funds to go. Im glad that the school didnt go, u never know i might not even be here if we faised enough money and went.

This day i hold dear to my heart, the U.S is still scared by that attack. It will never heal. But we made the best of it by standing strong and showing the world of the U.S's courage.

JacobR,

That is one of the most touching pictures I have seen. The most wonderful thing....is that you are a resident of another nation yet care for us and appreciate us across the pond....To show your support in your nation the way you did to the citizens of your country truly is humbling and awe inspiring. Thank you for thinking of us Americans during this somber time of remembering a tragic time in our nations history. May we never forget even those around the world. Thank you Jacob for doing your part to help people to never forget.

Great job.

Just as an FYI. The president authorized the flags to be flown at half mast today.

Also, when ever the flags of multiple country's are flown together, it is customary to fly them at the same height. For example at the United Nations or the Olympics.

Given that you are working with only one mast, and that it is done with honorable intentions, i think what you have done is awesome!

If you build it, I will come.......and bomb it !!!

There are situations - like this one - when all good men of the world should fly sort of a "neutral flag", a "no-country-flag", something completely free from political ideology, a symbol adopted by all.
Probably this idea already took place somewhere, in someone's mind, but as I never heard of it, I assume it doesnt exists until someone shows me. And please, don't talk about the United Nations flag, cuz I mean something REALLY created BY PEOPLE, not by oficial organizations.
But, if no thing like that exists yet (absurd as it sounds), hey, damn it! It is about time to do it, huh?

Ok, that's a pipe dream. May be an effect of the meds I am using for kidney pain...

Lots of brazilian people died that day, by the way - as from hundreds of other nations as well... World is becoming too little.

I took the RED PILL!

Well said Ped. So we fly each of our own countries' flags, but not for exclusiveness. It just reminds us that we were all impacted.

Or, fly the Jolly Roger flag!

Manfred
