CARAMEL T. CAT died today of natural causes....

...some of you may remember when I mentioned she stomped into the house, uninvited, and made herself at home & I was adopted. Her picture is somewhere here.

You folks helped me name her. CARMEL. (My friend's 8 year old daughter instructed me that her name was Car-A'-Mel...with the appropriate stern look.)

Thank you folks for telling me to adopt her, too. She was as smart as any dog and talked like a nagging wife. And she loved me as much. Nagging can be love....from a cat.

I'm going to miss her.

Sorry to hear about your loss Paul.

We'd probably be a cat family if my youngest weren't so allergic to the kitties. I had two cats in a studio apartment when I was at my first job out of college - those two ruled the little home, and there was absolutely no nighttime sleeping allowed. The older one was sharp as a tack and Master of the Place, while the other one was cute and cuddly and... about as smart as a stapler. It brought great joy to me to have my little family, long before I had thoughts of a human family.

Now we're a human and dog family (plus half a horse - time share). I feel fortunate to have known all of our critters, past and present. They are the kids, the brothers, the feet warmers, and always know when to come around and nuzzle you.

The only cat I had as a pet put a scar on my younger brother's cheek. It was 20 years ago, and my brother still have that scar. Don't ask me what happened with the cat that day...

Paul,

Your thread was turning a little light on inside my head, and I didn't notice why until now.

In the last 9 years, I was living in a town called Itaúna. Only this year I moved to a neighbour city called Pará de Minas, but I still work on Itaúna (I travel every working day).

Fact is that Itaúna is not a portuguese word - it is from Tupi language (Tupi is one of many indigenous nations that inhabited Brasil before the arrival or the discoverers).
Itaúna is the junction of two words: Ita + Una.
Ita means stone, rock; Una means dark, black.
;)

I took the RED PILL!

Sorry Paul, never had a cat but lost a few dogs. Surely was the luckiest Fetis Catus in town, no doubt.

Thank all of you for your kind wishes. The hardest part was explaining to little Elizabeth about death.
It's her first encounter with it.

Last night she named the North Star...Caramel. That was tough until she looked up at me and said "Now Caramel is an angel and she will always be with you, Mr. Paul."

Not sure what to say to you Paul! It is very tough to lose a close friend/family member, just know this Friend is thinking of you during this difficult time. Wow, that are the sweetest, most pure hearted words to hear coming from such a young girl. Brought a tear, uhh I mean warmed my heart.

Sorry to hear it buddy. Losing a pet is a hard thing to take at any stage in life.

I'm not sure how you feel about coincidence, but I'm always highly suspicious when I encounter it.

This is what we found at the boat ramp at Tuckertown Lake loading up the boat to head home.

She was so playful, friendly and sweet, loving on the Mrs Parrot and the boys and even this cranky old codger, that we couldn't leave her there. The pic is from the gas station down the road where we stopped to buy her milk and a can of food.

She's now the newest member of the Parrot family. We have an appointment at the vet this morning. We named her Tucker.

I'm not sure I would've been so willing to take her in if I'd not read your post an hour before. Coincidence? Again, I'm suspicious...

PH,

That's amazing. They look the same, too. You won't regret the addition to your family.

Thanks for taking her to a new happy home.

By the way she loves all seafood.

This was shared with me, thought of you, I know it says dog, but I think it should apply to any animal we share our hearts with.

Thanks Paul! Really touched by change in the title. She did fine a the vet today and got a clean bill of health. Doc confirmed our suspicions on age, approximately 8 weeks old. She found her new bed too...

Pudding' the Lab seems to like here and Lil Bit, the demon spawned devil cat from hell (that hates everyone except Mrs P), was caught grooming her this morning. She fitting right in.

Marty, I'm saving and stealing your post. Thanks for that!
