I love this game.

Bombing runs, tanking, carriers, the whole thing.

I'm not a great player, heck borderline at best even when I'm having a good night. Sometimes it's great just to call a truce and mess around. I ask for one only in a dogfight when I'm way ahead of anyone else. Often it's when it's just me and some level 9s and 10s. I'll ask:

"Anyone want to call a truce and circus fly at the bridge?"

There are often takers. It can be a lot of fun. Check out some of the "Circus" threads on the forum. Trouble is there are pilots who just don't get it. For some unknown reason some jerks cant find it in themselves to go find another game where everyone is actually trying to fight. Stache is one of those guys. CORNEL PATA has also shown his contempt for goofing off.

Okay fine. It is a war game after all. If you want to be the top gun knucklehead, go for it. It's your right. You paid for the game just like everyone else so you have every right to shoot down anyone whether they are engaging or not.

The reason I'm writing this is to vent off some steam because of what just happened in such a game. I was in game just me and two level 10s. I was destroying them. I offered a truce and said to meet at the bridge. They were good with it so I was headed over. As I was saying this some others spawned in. Including Philip Flynn. I repeated the invitation and some said "on my way" etc. Flynn was just wasting everyone he could.

I said I was offering because I was already at 13 kills. Flynn says "You're an ass".

Taking Flynn down as your 15th kill should have been satisfaction enough. Calling him names in the forum (in this alternative black list thread) is probably a bit too much. His indiscretion was fleeting, whereas your judgement of him on this thread is permanent. Is he really a jerk? I don't think so.

Well, I certainly understand, appreciate and sympathize with you McF. Phil is usually a good guy, though. I've never bad an issue with him. I probably would have gotten upset as well if I'd been in the same situation.

The sad truth is some folks just don't care. I've been in several circus sessions when a new player spawns and starts laying waste to the the non-fighting players. At times it's taken several minutes just to get their attention enough to explain. Then several minutes to explain on top of that. Many times it just doesn't make a difference and they'll ruin the fun by taking advantage of the situation. Do I get upset? Do I call the offending parties names? Hell yes! Some people by nature are just plain inconsiderate. You try and try to explain, but their self-centered ways just sees how the other 5 or 6 guys are ruining his own fun. I deal with it and move on, but I add that player to my ever growing mental lists of jerks and exact revenge when the opportunity presents itself.

I don't blame you for venting or even calling a person out. I agree with Ronnie, in that its a record in the forum of the person's transgression. I just don't think it's a bad thing. Personally, if I piss you off, I'd much rather you post it and let me know. If I feel in defendable I'll give you my side. Phil, have at it. Tell us your side. McFate has no monopoly on tis thread... Post away!

BTW, great game Foust & Ghost, you two formed a brrick wall of a defense, I got the disconnect while tanking and the weirdest thing happened, tank started shooting backwards

That was a rough one we got the boot as well. If your scope gets any bigger, I don't think your plane will fly lol. You scared all of our help away. If you have any extra duct tape, could you please drop some off so I can repair my plane

My two cents:

1 - Some days ago, I entered a shoot the zep game when there were several buddies playing circus at the bridge. I was tired. Last game of the night. I chose to shoot the zep. Oh, all those free points after being shot all night long!!! Irresistible, I confess. Sorry, guys, for ending the game and ending your joy. I won't to that anymore.

2 - About people that spoils the circus shooting the acrobats, some things need to be said:
a) Not every player knows what means "lets go circus"! I was level 15, when I read it on my screen the first time, and I didn't understand that "invitation". I kept shooting reds, when one of them warned me to be fairplayer - I answered: "But I AM a fairplayer!!! What the heck???" I quit the game. Some days after, same "invitation", same trouble. It took some days for me to understand that - mostly not being an English-talking guy. So, please, lets be more tolerant with some circus-spoilers...
b) I am well known as a drama-queen, complaining guy. Always asking for more stable/heavy/strong tanks; always asking for team-only-chat; always asking for more balanced teams, etc. And during all this complaining time, my closest friends here kept adivising me something like "Ped, don't be too harsh, Zup is working it out", or "Ped, lets play this game the way it is", or "Ped, don't search perfection, it doesn't exist", or "Ped, this game its great, and its free, so lets bypass its flaws", etc., etc., etc., etc., etc. Wise advices, by the way, thank you guys - not complaining about that, just remembered that to use these advices here: please, lets stop complanining about players that simply choses not to do circus. It's their option. Not too kind? Not too elegant? Sure not! They could leave the game, for camaraderie sake, I agree. Are they people you would want making part of your squad? Certainly not. But do they deserve being called names? I don't think so.

I disagree with Ronnie, although removal of the name-call Jerk from McF's post would be an improvement. Actually, it would be the only possible improvement, as the rest is spot on IMO.

If someone doesn't want to circus and keeps blasting the blimp, oh well, game over. But that's different from blasting unsuspecting circusers on their way to the bridge or Duck Mountain, or actually zooming through the bridge (ahem, Coronel Pata). McFate's judgment was that Flynn was taking advantage of pilots that had agreed to cease fire. Sure, that's a tough call on intent.

But let's look at the parties. McFate is pretty experienced, not a whiner, good guy. Flynn is a known tank spawnkiller with a Who Me attitude, at least that's a part of his history. Tell ya what, if McFate calls this dude out for acting like a point mongerer, I for one am listening intently. And I'll listen intently to Flynn's response as well. But if it starts with Who Me, I will have my conclusion.

Oh, and I forgot to mention: in THIS specific case, I am with McFate, since Flynn was the first to call bad names. What I wrote on my previous post was about the "whole picture" of this circus-spoiling issue.

I'd been thinking about putting out a notice about circuses to try to make people more aware so it doesn't take so much explaining in game. Right now lots of guys know exactly what's up if they see someone say "Circus!" I thought it was funny the other day when I spawned into a game where others were trying to call for a truce and poor Swop just didn't get it at first. "But this is dogfight" LOL! I had to go before I saw it sorted out but I think he got it in the end. He certianly was not trying to be a jerk.


I would not have posted his name if all Flynn did was to shoot. It was his "shooting off at the mouth" that got to me. He was rude with other comments too. Not profane, just rude enough to make it obvious that he knew he was raining on our parade and didn't give a damn.

I definitely am putting this out there as my complaint against his character. I doubt he'll care. It's probably going to get his attention so he targets me if there is a choice. Let's see if it gets to team killing. I won't team kill but if there are two reds coming at me I'll target him first. Odds are I'll get the worst of it anyway. His stats are better than mine but then they aren't more important to me than sharing good times with the dogfight community.

Oops. I edited my last post and added about Swop only to come back and find that he had clicked thank you before I added about him. Sorry doughens. I hope you didn't mind me talking about you in this post. I hold you in highest regard.

Thats no big deal you mentioning it. I felt bad and am so glad that I could apologize to my two great pilots parrothead and McFate. I sent you a PM of apology for my "ignorance" as well as to Parrothead as well. When you said "flying circus" in that game THEN Swop knew. I said to myself "oh gees Swop, how stupid am I". You left so soon that I couldn't apologize in chat in game to you and Parrothead. I understood "flying circus" but I didn't understand "don't shoot" or "no fighting" or whatever else was said outside of "flying circus" that defined "flying circus".

In the future 100% of the time, if a pilot and/or group of pilots call for "flying circus" I will always respect that. Just make it easy on the old Swop by saying "flying circus". That is all I ask.

McFate you are correct. Every one should know more about circus flying. Its a crying shame that certain people dont like circus flying. Or the ones that want to ruine the fun of circus flying. I have had that done to me just recently. Bhfoust, tbuily and I were circus flying and kept gettin shot down by ummm I forget ok no I didnt, just not saying by whome! but after explaining what we were doin he agreed not to shoot use any more that game. I offered him to fly with us and he just left the game. Good guy he is.

I remember the first time I ever did it. I was a Brigadier General II flying with the falcons, I was a head strung dingdong shootin every one down that I could. ? Parrothead says to me hey ghosty come fly with us! Well I asked what are you guys doin? He says flyin across the bridge upside down. I believe Dr.Dave was in there as well so I watched them for a bit and ph told me yo give it a try. So I did and crashed. after that I was determined to make it across. After my 4, 5 maybe even my 6th attempt I made it. Every one congratulated me, then ph ummm ghosty do it upside down. I was like WHAT? I DONT THINK SO, but I did it and made it a few trys later. I was hooked now. Thanks PH. Another addiction that keeps me playing this game. Now I can barrelroll across the bridge and make it.

Wasnt long afteri put uo the ALL SQUAD CIRCUS PICS THREAD. it became a minor hit for a short time. then exploded, lol pics goin up daily. I know it still takes me some time to get pilots to circus fly. But when I do it is just to much fun. Sorry guys im rambling on. Lol
Back to the topic at hand.

Yes there are those who dont give two squirts about others circus flying, and will try and ruine the fun, call us name's and just be an all around butt head. But for those who still enjoy circus flying please keep it up. Cause some times we just want to have fun. And try maneuvers that have never been done or never been successful. I challenge all those pilots who like to ruine our fun to give it a try. I know I have seen a few who tried and fail get mad and either leave the game or start shooting every one down. Lol all I can say is treat the circus flying like its a normal game and keep trying. Every one crashes when the first start out. Heck I still crash from time to time. But in my defense im always trying some thing new.

McFate if you want to start a thread explaining circus flying, please do. Please give explicit instructions on how to circus fly and what its about. Thank you McFate for post and bringing this to every ones attition.

I personally am not a big fan of the circus but I respect it when one uses the term as part of announcement. If one uses other things I might not recognize what is going on, not unlike this situation. Like I mentioned earlier. If one says "this is a flying circus" it will be respected by Swop and no firings will be done by the Swop. and that's the truth and a promise.

Oh Camel good buddy. I was not referring to you my brother. It was some one else entirely. You know I would never put you in some thing like that. At lest I hope you would think I wouldn't. to be honest it wasn't even a falcon. lol but all in all you are a great guy my brother.

I was in that game with McF, Phil blasted me as I was approaching the bridge... Personally I like the fun of the flying circus, nice break from getting shot down all the time by the good guys

Hi suxxor. I was hoping you'd post here. I didn't want to pull you into my venting.

You were part of my first "circus" session. You, Dr Dave, bhFoust and I quit firing in a dogfight. We all went as high as we could to see what was up there. Dr Dave had you shoot him down from 4200m and he rode the chute all the way down. He got some good pics of the map from there. Thanks to your sense of adventure it was one of my most memorable games. Those who can't see the value in taking a moment to do something other than shoot as many as fast as they can are really missing out.

Remember how hard it was to aim when you're pressed against the ceiling? LOL.

For you guys who think the only thing this game is designed for is combat let me ask you;
Why did zup go through the trouble to make it so you can blow sections out of the bridge? They actually actually crack and fall away.
Is it an accident that there is enough room to land on top of Duckwing? (The peak above north base).

I still want to have tank races sometime . Race from south base to the bridge hangar to the top of Duckwing. The only reason it can't happen is because someone usually decides to make some easy points. Woohoo. 50 points per tank.

Heck. Foust would probably win it anyway.

I believe foust would win because he has an illegal undetected turbocharger in his tank. I want one.
