I had suggested:

Xxx Instructor xxX (coach, trainer, bodhisattva...whatever)

as a squad tag because it would be instantly recognizable and comunicates the intent. There will be very few squad tags in the lower ranks so it will really stand out. An easy to find squad thread on the forum could let them read what it's all about. The first page of the thread should list the squads intent, maybe list the voulenteer's names and their vet name, rank and squad too. It could also be a real introduction including suggestions for practice and etiquette.

I like your idea that the instrutor squad should be "squad neutral" and not actively recruit. There may still be other vets who are not part of the instructor squad who can recruit if the want to. Definately start them out with a recruit status.

I suggest more of an observer/demonstrator role. You'll be certian to encounter hotshots who want to take a shot at you and they can learn the hard way. I don't think noob planes will do much to level the field between the veterans and the noobs, but we'll see. Also remember that if you fight you will level out fairly quickly. You might want to save it for tank campers and spawn killers who need an old school lesson.

I created a squadron named DogFight Coach. I'll start an official squad thread later when I have time to intelligently draft it up, but I think it's a good idea.

This is a great way to promote DF, it's future lies on the future players. It can be very frustrating when your a new player and can't ever get to the red dot on the map, then suddenly find yourself over a base frantically checking the map to make sure it's the red base!!! "YES I MADE IT UNADULTERATED"!!!! ...... "Now what"?????!!!!

Participation in the mission - at coach's discretion. Not strictly prohibited (my thought on this is that it could be detrimental to the blue team you're if you're not participating. If you can sit out and not hurt "your" team that's best.)
Explain/request bannable offenses are stopped before reporting. Reporting/banning a noob should be considered the nuclear option and used as last resort.
The account or at least the tag should be dropped after promoting out of the little leagues. There's no need for the Coach tag in the big leagues.
No squad recruiting - answering general questions about squads is ok. Trying to direct them toward a particular squad is not.

Yes if at all potable there probably shouldn't be more than 2 coaches in (a game)at one time this may cause mass confusion

you heard LD99..danmit those noobs need our protection from those other accounters!!! .. .if they get in our line of sight multiple times tryin to help them,,,well, thats the price for semi protection. Zupe, tear down that wall!!!!

Didnt realize the segregation had taken place until I stumbled on this thread. I like it, both from a personal competition side and from remembering what it was like to continually have my arse handed to me when I first started.

Just started my Coach account and flew for about an hour. Was a lot of fun. It was in a single dogfight mission. Once they figured out I was there to help, they warmed up and the questions came flying. I think this is going to be a lot of fun.

Flying as Coach Parrot.

Many of them didn't know they were segregated. I answered questions and let them chase me. I didn't shoot at them. They are going to be really surprised when they graduate. One of them actually shot me in a chase and I thought he was going pee in his pants. Gave him a lot of confidence.

I'll start the squad page this weekend.

Last night I was in a game with a guy who had just leveled out of the noob server. He was in shock! "This sucks! I'll never get any more kills!" He had no idea it was coming.

I'll be in when I get another account set up. It's a bit tricky with a kindle. Amazon is set up so you don't "accidentally" purchase the same thing twice.

If you any question about is the segregation working just go look at the games ratings they are 5star ratings and the comments are all good.... I'd say its working fine....

Nope it was all noobs. There was one guy on there that apparently started playing before the separation. I spawn in as Coach Parrot and said hello and he replied "ParrotHead?" Said he remembered me for when he started. Again he didn't know he was in the kiddie pool.

One funny thing... There was a guy on and it was apparently his 1st or 2nd day. He vented his woes about being a poor player and that he'd only had a few kills, 8 I think. He was astonished when I told him I played for 5 days before I got my first kill. I explained that back then I was flying against mostly aces and saw very few other noobs. I was lucky to clear the base. I think the segregation is definitely going to get more folks hooked/addicted. I do worry the culture shock after moving up is going to discourage many. We definitely need to pop in as coaches and at least explain they're moving up when they hit rank 10, so they at least expect it.

Parrot I would love to be a part of what your doing think it one of best ideas I have seen in a while.

Went in last night as Dr Dave-Lite as the bird said was very much fun, showed some how to land on carrier I was in game 4 months before I could, others explained what to do in game, is btc,btb,CTC,PTB, I came into that game there was 4 reds and 3 blues just going at it both motors still humming along no one know where to shoot, funny now till I think back to my 1st days. will be back in some time today. Late.










Oh and all night I only had 3 kills. And 1 deaths but hey they needed the points. Will die more tonight.

I dont know if this is the right spot for this but, it used to be if i got into a game with one or two players i could back out and go into another. However now it is same game over and over with one or two guys flying around doing nothing. I see all the great players are on line but cant land a game with them. If I do its far and few. Any help would be nice!

yeah well i just left a zep game,just me samwebb and ... guess who was the only blue...i got sam 3x and dots 2,,i got hit by sam 2x before the server decided it wasnt adding anymore. So i said ima find a btc game and left.,

When Z announced this several players volunteered to fly in the little leagues as "coaches". I think most of them even agreed to fly with blanks or limited weaponry.

I think I may even start a "coach" account. I can afford the extra $5 and might even be fun. When that one hits level 10, I could start over. Coach PH... I like it.

Kudos to you Parrothead. Coaches should be marked separately and noobs should be made aware that coaches are present and the big leagues are imminent. I would be willing to do this as well...for what I'm worth (I just like helping).

I didn't notice the segragated servers. This makes it cool, I'm a rank 12 so it gives me a challenge. My only complaint is that in the upper level, games take soooooo long!

I don't like it much, I'm at lv15 and still can't hit the side of. Barn . Can u drop me back to lower level to Aim up

I have a question for those players that have played in the lower servers when the segregation was put in place!

What was it like? Game play wise, i.e. team killing, potty mouths, learning curve, did you know about being able to shoot from a chute, how to get a tank, land on carrier, re-load at your base, how to bomb the hangers, use your brake at friendly base/carrier to protect yourself from incoming enemy, did you know about the forum, bannable offenses, muting, being able to report players?

I know it won't be a lot of people, since I am assuming (you know what that can sometimes mean) a lot of them also do not know about the forum.

Just would like some feedback from those that are either currently playing in those servers, or those that have played and ranked up and what the difference is.

I really like the segregated servers. They give a much better game to the higher ranks.

I think for high ranks they are good. I think for low ranks they are good and bad. The Tking potty mouths are probably horrible in the little league. I have noticed a lot of low ranks in high servers that are dropping out. Imagine the first game after that last rank up. Wow 9 Air Marshals all of a sudden. It would be a tough learning curve. May be no camping or sking in low rank servers but that is the only advantage. No help other wise. The coaches you have are good but limited to time in game and rank up. Not much you can do with that limited ability. Personally If I was just starting the game I'd want to go straight to the big leagues. Take my lumps and learn the hard way. Just my thoughts.
