This is a link to a little place I found at the weekend
www.stowmaries.com
I think some of you may be interested, particularly Zup.
Bit of background - this is an old WW1 aerodrome that had been abandoned after the hostilities and subsequently wasn't redeveloped for WW2 use, so has lain relatively dormant since, except for the occasional use by the farmer who owned it.
The site was put up for sale a few years ago and could have been lost under new housing or flattened for a lorry park but was bought by a couple of guys, who I believe flew helicopters, and they have now started restoring the site.
Quite a lot has been done already like draining the flying field and structural work on some of the building - indeed a few of the buildings have been fully restored to how they would have been at the onset of WW1 and the field is operational.
Just thought it would be good for you to see an actual WW1 site and the associated buildings !
I took a few photos on the day so if anyone is interested I will post those too.
Just hope the link works because I haven't done this before so if not, can one of you guys or girls give me some advice ?
