Giz,
Take a look at this. 1st experiment worked well.
I now have a Kindle and used the box it came in. A bicycle hand grip makes holding it easier.
The Kindle power inserts from the bottom, so with a little rigging I can now fly with power. I also use a glove (winter neoprene) liner with the tip of finger & thumb cut off to activate buttons. The glove helps to grip the device more easily.
Hope this helps a bit.

Nice Paul! My phone case has fabric on the back that i find nice and grippy.

No wrist problems but I do have problems seeing far off things after a long session with my phone six inches from my nose. And sometimes that gives me headaches too.

Better put a medical waiver in the entry screen! Ha!

I use my right hand and wrist to hold the ipad. Amazingly strong for some odd reason.

The only problem i have is my arms get tired while in a dogfight with someone. I have to hold my ipad at eye level.

When I couldn't support my device because my arms didn't work, I suspended the holder from the ceiling with some small line to a bungee "arch" connected to the holder itself.
The line held the weight. The bungee allowed flexibility.
I still use it sometimes, but have adapted it for quick removal for dog fights.

I often Play laying in a prone position. It's made my shoulders hurt and my hands go numb many times.

You're pinching your nerves.
Neck & shoulder braces might help. All part of my uniform.

When I get time I'm gonna fabricate a phone holder with ergonomic/comfortable grips that also has a cooling fan built in so I can play for extended periods of time without fear of overheating...it geets pretty hot sometimes.

I play on an iPhone 4S in a dirty, smeared, torn up and worn out otterbox. Often, with a car charger hanging out of it. It does get warm...
