I have noticed that you can clearly see some hit spots to shoot on a plane at a distance, and others you either cannot see at all or can not see until you are close.

Why the difference?. Shouldn't all spots be the same size?

I have noticed that the planes that are most successful, seem to have smaller spots, so they are harder to hit, and guess what, they have the most kills.

Just a thought.

I always thought it was due to either single bi- or tri- wing planes...tri-wing being the largest

I noticed that the one winged German plane is much harder to shoot than the rest, and, as you said, the better aircraft have smaller hit spots. I agree that hit spots should all be the same. It makes the game slightly unfair!

Just a question, not looking for an arguement... But if everyone has the same opportunity to earn/purchase and choose their own aircraft, how is it unfair. If you want the smaller profile, you could just as easily choose the single-winged plane. No? The smaller profile also means your flying, supposedly, a lower rated (star ratings in the hangar) than say the SE5 or Albatross. It's a trade off, but seems completely fair to me. I actually like the fact that we're not all forced to fly identically performing aircraft.

As a reminder/announcement. April 15, 2013 will be the first DogFight Rookies Day. Several, hopefully most of the experienced pilots are agreeing to fly the lowest rated planes for either German or Allied sides for the entire day. It's a back to our roots movement. We'll fly these planes and get a chance, as a group to test our skills without the benefits of superior aircraft. Check out the Rookies Day thread for more info. I hope y'all join up. You maybe surprised at the agility of these "lesser" planes. I know I was.
Fuck this place. Second rate hack playing in a yard that's too big for him.

My main concern about the size of the hit spots are related not with the diferences between planes, but between DEVICES!
This week I managed o play on my cousin's iPad for a while, and it looks like, on a bigger and higher-res screen, you can see the dots larger than if it was played on a smartphone with a 4 inches display. That explains why some people are WAY better than others (of course that there is the skill factor, but screen is of great importance).

Some planes are different sizes. Think about it: what would really be easier to hit? A Fokker E3, or a SE5a?

That's why I hold a big magnifying glass against my phone screen. It's heavy, but worth the trouble.
