Sounds like a plan. I'm in.
Noob planes piloted by hardened-killer non-noobs will at first glance look like juicy targets to unsuspecting actual rookies. By the time they get lured in it will be too late. Why didn't anyone think of this before? But the squad needs a catchier name. How about CHUM Squadron, or RINGERS, or DUCK-TOLLING DOGS, or WISKY? That last would be an acronym: "Wolves In Sheep's Klothes, Yo!" But maybe we should re-name this event "Rookie Slaughter Day" or "Silencing of the Lambs Day"? Just kidding. I'm sure the rookies will appreciate all the attention.  |

I've been flying the camel and DR1 almost exclusively for the last few days, practicing for the 15th. The newbies appreciate it. So do the red aces. Teammates expecting a fast, nimble air marshal are disappointed when I show up in my sluggish crate. I spend most of my time circling home base shooting down intruders. I can't get past midfield with a bomb very often unless the teams are stacked in my favor. It's all good fun!

I will reinforce what Manfred and ParrotHead said about non-participants: yeah, of course it is a voluntary effort, so no need to blame who doesn't take part on this one. It needs to stay clear! So, please, squad leaders, when spreading the word around, remember to tell people that it is VOLUNTARY, just for fun. No one will piss of any one because one doesn't get in this "role playing game".
And ParrotHead, the idea of a one-day-life-squad is great. And although the names suggested by Bopes are cool, I belive that the squad's name needs to be a clear reference to its purpose. Parrot, would you mind spending some time to create the squad, post its thread on squad forum and delete it the day after? I reaaly don't have time to do it right now... Thank you very much, all of you people. See ya wolves-in-sheep-clothes next 15th!

I tried it. The first game i got into was against Wig, Hansone, and Cheetah 975. Huh. Neat.

Don't need to completely f*** up the kdr... the basic planes are still competitive, this is from a game a couple of days ago. Dusted off the ol' DH2 and took it to the skies. I was flying as [M]ustang.

Wow! Rookies Day is FUN!
I just flew 2 of my favorite missions in the free Fokker.. too much fun lol! Dogfight mission: 
& shoot the zep! 
I forgot how small amount of ammo the freebie planes had. after shooting down reds when I started shooting the zep I ran outta bullets shortly after killing the engines lol!

Ok my rookie day is over. It was a lot of fun and my kdr survived! Ended up a net 53 kills. Look forward to doing it again next year.
