I don't want this to be another thread that will some how make me yet more enemies. I just want an idea of people's opinions, as everyone here has a military interest or even military experience.

North Korea has been throwing its weight around (much like General Jackson) for sometime now and we have all heard his or his fathers threats a million times before but in the U.K we are being inundated with updates of the situation for the past week or so and to me it sounds like this time he is going to do something.

So what are you hearing where you are? What do you think is going to happen next?

Like I said, I don't want this turning Into the rights and wrongs of past wars/invasions, just opinions and observations please.

Well I personally think that N Korea won't attack S Korea because they know that they can just be wiped out easily. Anyway I do think that the Americans didn't help the situation by sending a b2 bomber (capable of praticaly blowing the whole of N Korea to pieces if equipped with nuclear weapons?) With an F/A 18 (Capable of blowing a lot of land way bigger than the WW2 nuclear bomb, away. N Korea would have taken this as a threat.

Still what the worst that could happen?

Only all out nuclear war with the superpowers!

I believe that between Iraq and North Korea combined with a very poor global economy the world is going to fail. I believe that Iraq and North Korea will use THE BOMB if they are allowed to continue their course of action. As a Vietnam vet with 20 percent disability i don't like to be negative but think about it, countries are broke, states are broke, city's are broke and we are 17 trillion in dept. We have nothing but the worst of politicians who care nothing for the United States. Most all our leaders have lost their GOD given common sense. I know this sounds negative folks but the truth is the truth.

The only real hope i have is knowing that the good LORD has his plan under control, I believe that we are in or very close to the end times. Thanks for the post.

While you can never guess what an idiot trying to prove a point will do, north Korea is short on food and fuel. Even if they did try something they wouldn't last long. Best bet is some.exchange of artillery on the boarder.

I think on the face of it, North Korea declaring a state of war now exists between itself and South Korea looks serious.
With a standing army (poorly trained and equipped) of over 1 million and an immediate reserve of another 8.5 million, they could poor south and would not be stopped.

However, what has to considered is that this state of war has in fact existed since 1950 when the Chinese poured down from the north. The cessation of armed conflict in 1953 is still regarded by all parties as an armistice and not a declaration of peace.

The Koreans need funding from china to keep their starving population alive, the Chinese have the money and appear to hold the key (so perhaps the Koreans are suing for generous cash terms from them). The Chinese will always call for calm as a world superpower as they them selves can only afford the fund the projects they choose to on the funds generated through western businesses (European and American) relocating production facilities there due to the extremely low labour costs and non existent labour protection laws.

So ultimately, it is shareholder greed that is the key factor.

Basically, it's all a load of old brinkmanship crap based around money.

Yet we still give aid to feed these people. SO WHO ARE THE STUPID ONES?????

Politicians - waste of oxygen !!

I don't think full scale wor is in North Koreas interests. More likely this whole thing has role in NKs domestic policy. They might shoot couple of missiles or use artillery on limited strikes but not much more. If they will thats a different story. Even if their gas and food is limited they could cause some serious problems in full scale attack. South Korea is small country and driving trough South Korea by car takes only 4 hours.

I dont think they have big enough missile to carry their nuclear bomb. Biggest question in here still remains. What will China do? From that remains the rest of story.

North Korea is a country (technologically speaking) stuck in the 1950's. Kim Jong Un is an attention seeker trying to establish himself as a credible threat other than Il's pudgy teenage boy. If for some strange reason they went through with launching a nuke, it wouldn't be North Korea you should be afraid of. It'd be possible allies like China. But even then, I think China realizes how futile it would be to make America an open enemy. After all, the profit they make from America is unbelievable. Even if Americans were to play into that whole "Buy USA" fad, it would be a drop in the bucket. In the same way people combine their debt by taking one credit card and paying off all the other cards (that way it's on a single card); the American government chose to do the same with allowing China to "purchase debt" -- thus solely owing the purchased amount to China. As of last year, China owned 1.2 trillion dollars of America's debt.

At any time they wish, they could request payment immediately and shut off all exports to America. The price of simple goods would skyrocket -- similar to the universal price hike during Reagan's presidency with the last "Buy American!" fad.

Pretty crazy.

I'm not sure if you guys are fans of Vice, but you should check out this series. It's crazy, hilarious and very eye opening. Especially the last few videos when the crew encounter Russian mobsters who take them into the labor camps and nearly get shot up.

Or this one from Vice where they actually sneak into North Korea. Again, it has both humor and eye opening appeal.

Vice rules. If you want any other good ones from them, ask. I have a handle on nearly all the best videos (because I've watched nearly all of them, hahahah!)

A few weeks ago md and my mom disccused this. North korea will mostlikely not do anything. Why you ask??
They need support from china or they will be facing southkorea, USA, and the united nations. If china doesn't help them they will get wiped out.
China doesn't want to help tghem. That would mean going to war with the US which owes them so much money and they don't want a war they want to build up their economy.
That is how I see it from michigan.

Based off of what has happened, I don't think they will ever make a rocket that work effectively, or be able to get uranium or plutonium to use in it. Also, if they do, there will probably be a joint coalition of elite forces to wipe out everyone on the project and destroy it. And if it comes to it, one or two cruise missiles will solve it.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't be opposed to arranging a small coup... But leave our big army at home. One of 2 things has to happen for a successful overthrow of a government. A: The people holler bullish!t and chop their heads off (think French Revolution) or B: we carpet bomb them until everyone cries uncle (Germany and Japan, WWII). Scalpel wars with ones "big army" generally fail, or end up as a stalemate.

It seems like China is mobilising troops on North Korean border. It doesnt mean China is going to support North Korea but Chinese are expecting sh*t hitting the fan close future.

They have working rockets. December 2012 they lauched a sateelite in space. That same rocket (Taepodong 2) could be easily used for nuclear weapon. Problem for NK is that their nuclear waepons (if they have any) are too big and impractical to fit on their rockets. Also accuracy of all their 4 rocket models is not wery good. They might still be able to make some good hits on city-sized targets. Problem with biggest rockets (Taepodong 1 and 2) is their liquid fuel. That stuff is really dangerous and makes launching preparations slow.

So I dont think their rockets and nukes are so much threat but their 1200000 men army is something to think about. In full scale conflict North would most likely lose to South Korean +700000 well armed men. That is not a secret even to Kim Jong Un. But after all commies do not think like normal human beings.
