Okay, so this idea has probably been tossed around before, but some other members and I thought it would be great to make this a reality. A separate site, an unofficial guide to Dogfight.

This website would be written and maintained by the player community, and will stand as a reference to DF only. No socialization should take place there, it stands as a “view only” kind of site. It will contain any and all relevant information to playing Dogfight, from the basics (HUD, basic flying, bombing, landing, etc), a walkthrough of the Practice Missions, and most importantly, guides on playing online... all written from a collaboration of seasoned players.

The forums is a great place for information and help, but organizing everything into a comprehensive guide, written by the experienced players themselves, would serve a great purpose in all its own.

Now, this is going to be a separate project that will require the use of intellectual property in a second-party site. In no way must any of us receive profit from this. If Joaquin, or any other staff members issues a C&D, we must do exactly that. DF isn’t our property, and tI don't want to cause any infringement.

To make it as simple as possible to create and maintain, we’ve decided to host this website on .Webs

Ideas? Thoughts? Opinions?


This will have to be a big team effort, so if you would like to help out, see below.

Administrators

We need people to build, run, and maintain the website itself. An admin would have to be trustworthy and dependable, they have power and control over the entire website. Administrators write and organize the pages on the website and the project itself, and will be doing a great deal of computer time. Admins will be in charge of final-checking pages before they are published on the site. Admins must be familiar with computers and word processing. Also, as of current, each administrator must have a Google Drive account, to be able to publish pages on the site. An administrator will have a lot of responsibility, and there will be a limited number of them. If you are serious about helping, and want to be an admin of this project, post so on this thread, and we will look into it.

Writers

This will make up the majority of the workforce in the building of this website. Loads of content needs to be written for this guide. Output needs to be thorough, and well-written (See the alpha pages of the guide for examples of what we need). Proper grammar/syntax, as well as a good knowledge of the game itself is needed. If you are interested in helping write a specific part of the guide, post on this thread. We will give you instructions on what needs to be written.

Photographers

To make this guide good, we need screenshots, and good ones, too. If you spend a lot of time in-game, and wouldn’t mind taking some useful pictures every now and then, this would be a nice position. We need specific pictures, so there will be specific missions/game modes that will need to be photographed. If you are interested, post on this thread.

We need all the help we can get to make this work! If you have any ideas -- anything at all, post them here, too!

Excellent, just as everything you two do.
However, M.O.M is misspelled.
Also, your guesstimate of 80% of M.O.Ms completing the first mission is extremely high, but thanks for the compliment.

I love this idea and the professional look of it.

their are many seasoned players who owe their rank to my rear end and I would hate to have a new player go thru that.

we just have to be careful not to give them too many strategies, half the fun in this game is finding out your own tactics and stuff.

This is a great idea Luna. I don't think it would have helped how many times I got shot down. But at least I would have known why.

With regards to this project...it's a huge undertaking but the quality of what you've done is fantastic so far.

To anyone who wants to help: You’ll need to tell me what part(s) you’d like to help with. Again, any help is appreciated! We need walkthroughs to be written, we need screenshots of the game, information, factuals, anything and everything to make this guide as thorough as possible.

Think about it: If anyone ever comes to us with questions about the game, this guide will be the reference that we point them to. And since the website can be updated, any missing/incomplete/inaccurate information can always be added later on.

To people who want to help out with the photos:

I need photos during multiplayer games. It's hard for one person to go out and take good snapshots of every game mode possible, so if you have any to offer, post them up here on this thread.

Okay, so I've finally taken enough pictures to begin writing the online portion of the guide. I've postponed working on the Practice Mission walkthroughs, I find them not as relevant as online play.

As I write the online guide, I'll be scouring the forums for any useful information that can be used in the guide. Once written and revised, I'll publish the guides to the website, so it can be looked over by other players, and possibly be considered for more editing. They won't be set in stone -- as the game develops, so will the guide.

Just gotta stay on task, lol. Procrastination is not a kind companion.

I was planning on making the website a "view-only" site, purely for reference. The site is just a medium to contain the guide itself, and I wasn't planning on creating a social section. There would be no log-in or register. The only "members" of the website would be people who volunteer to be administrators: they'll be the ones who manage and update the site.
