Hi Stuart! Sounds like you lost your calibration. Reset your controls. I have had that happen also and had to quit game:).
I would follow J4ff's advice and do a clean re-install also.

Android just uninstall reboot device.then install again from google play.you will need to change your ingame settings as you had before.Select multiplayer then yes to having account then select by email then enter email and password you already have.The game will appear to be new but once you log in a game your rank and points etc will be reinstated.
