I am thinking about going to United States next year (in June or July, not decided yet), to pay a visit to an old friend of mine. What about a barbecue with Dogfight players?
I know it's too early and too ambitious (and would be too expensive), but its doable - and it would be nice... :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Hammers, you know we were, at first, talking about a reunion of Dogfight Players, not only of "United States Citizens that plays Dogfight". There are players from Netherlands, Korea, Egypt, and maybe Mars on this DF universe...

So, it doesn't "have to be" in any place, and of course may be in any place in the world - including any point located in Groenland, Peru or Central USA!

I know that most of the players are from the United States, but being myself the first one that suggested this madness, and being myself a non-USA citizen, and considering the fact that I am about to go to Boston next year, I thought Boston would fit well; but of course every and each dogfight player can do this kind of party, when and where he/she wants! And certainly you USA citizens will make great ones, and I am quite sure that it will take place way before 2014! If so, have a good time, and take a drink in my memory!
(Don't forget to post pictures!)

(Besides, I am not even sure if I can go to USA next year...)

Edit: ops, sorry, Hamers; I didn't realize you are under 18 - so, no drinking!

Pie in the sky, maybe. But how bout a place of historical significance to DogFight. The sight of the first ever manned flight. Kitty Hawk, NC. (Kill Devil Hills).

That's just my own selfish suggestion because a reside within short driving distance. This suggestion is not meant to be a serious one.
Fuck this place. Second rate hack playing in a yard that's too big for him.

You meant "the first manned gliding", my friend. Sorry to tell you the truth, but the first man that managed to FLY, taking off and landing as it should be expected as a true FLIGHT (without the use of a ramp), was the brazilian genius Alberto Santos Dummont. He was born in the State of Minas Gerais, thats the state I live, by the way. And he was a Cruzeiro fan too!

We've tossed this idea around before, it would be pretty amazing if we could pull it off, huh?

We could have some kind of local wi-fi tournament (if Z decides to implement it). It'll turn physical quickly, don't you agree?

Sorry, ParrotHead, I didn't understand what you wanted to say with that...
1 - What is a yahoo?
2 - Why did you mention Ohio? What is special with Ohio regarding this matter?
3 - What is sour grape?
4 - And when you say "you and the rest of the yahoos", you didn't put the rest of the sentence, like the verb, to make it make sense...

(Don't get me wrong, I really didn't understand that - Im not being cinical, nor sarcastic or ironic. Remember: my English sucks...
:cheer:

Edit: I googled for "sour grapes"... The tale about the fox that cant reach the grapes is known worldwide... But I asure you its not the case here - the analogy doesnt fit.

Pedrinho, I believe Parrot is referring to you and the guys at Ohio as "sour grapes" because he is arguing which "first flight" was more significant, Mr. Dummont or the events at Kitty Hawk, NC.

I believe the mention of Ohio is an allusion to another flight-pioneering related event.

EDIT: I did some quick research to help clarify...

The Wright Brothers are known to have tested their first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. That is why Parrothead said this place to be of significance to early flight.

You then said that the flights of Mr. Dummont was more along the terms of a first flight.

Parrothead then referred to you and the "guys at Ohio " as sour grapes. Sour grapes means to act negative towards something because you cannot obtain it.

You see, there is an argument of which was the birthplace of flight in America; either North Carolina or Ohio (the Wright Brothers were based out of Ohio, but ran their flights at North Carolina.)

So, he jokingly called you and the guys at Ohio "sour grapes", implying that North Carolina is truly the birthplace of flight of which cannot be compared to other events in terms of significance.

...I hope that helped. :)

Thanks, Luna!

Two things:

1 - There is no fox "wanting a grape and pretending not doing so" here. We already HAVE the grape. Period. ;)
2 - I presume "yahoo" is like "hillbilly", or some kind of slang refering to people from Ohio, am I right? If not, please clarify...

My English is improving a little each time I read this forum! There will be a day when I will need to change my signature above my banner! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I live 15 minutes from Ohio so i resent that statement. And if this is in June/July I will only be 13. So I won't be able to go. And my parents don't want me to have connections without people I know in real life soooo… but hay!
