I am interested in the community's taste in film. List some of your favorite films. I'm looking for a few I may not have seen.

Here's some of my favorites, no particular order other than Fight Club being first.

Fight Club, Inception, Moon, V for Vendetta, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, The Adjustment Bureau, Exit Through the Giftshop, Saving Private Ryan, Rambo (the series), Apocalypse Now, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, American Psycho, The Deer Hunter, and District 9.

Lets hear yours. Feel free to give recommendations and write reviews of movies.

I recently saw "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford". I give it 9/10. The filmography was simply stunny, it truly captured the expanses of Kentucky, Missouri and other places toured by the James Brothers. It is said to be the most accurate account of what happened between Jesse James and Robert Ford, and was even acclaimed by the modern descendants of both.

The acting? Perfect. Brad Pitt captured James like I've never seen done before in any Western film with the James boys.

The soundtrack -- beautiful. So good I had to get it myself. Nick Cave & Warren Ellis really outdid themselves on this one.

The movie came second to "No Country for Old Men" (released the same year). Don't bother watching if you're into your Michael Bay movies filled with nonstop explosions to entertain young America, boring dialogues, no character progression, etc.

The Verdict: This movie goes far beyond of an usual Western film. Unfortunately, the slow and meditative style appeals more to hardcore Western fans rather than the mass audiences who only go to see long, complicated, unnecessary action scenes. The beauty of this movie is more based on images, music and expressions. It's visually and intellectually rich, in my opinion for its explorations on the decaying psyche of this famous outlaw.

Overall, I give it 9 out of 10 slenderhands.

See it if:

-You loved "No Country for Old Men"
-You're a fan of dialogue
-You love a good robbery (the Blue Cut Train Robbery was flawless)
-You like Westerns
-You like steak
-You're a man

Check the trailer, if this interests you -- see it.

I'm a pretty big fan of Star Wars myself.

I'm a bit disappointing in the selling of the franchise over to Disney.

I just hope they pay attention to the post-film cannon (the Expanded Universe books) so they stay true to the fans. But in all honesty -- I'm expecting nothing but a bunch of kid friendly Phantom Menace's

Ah, thanks for reminding me Blain! I've been meaning to see Shutter Island. I love psychological films.

Ah yeah, I really liked Letters from Iwo Jima. A bit more than Flags of Our Fathers.

I appreciated the point of view provided of how so many poor Japanese were brainwashed into dying for Tojo.

A Bridge too Far was fantastic as well.

I'm interested in a movie's score almost as much as the movie itself.

Anything with a soundtrack by, say, Hans Zimmer or Brian Tyler, is probably something I'd enjoy.

When you mention V for Vendetta, the first thing that I thought of was the quote:

"Behind this mask is an idea... and ideas... are... bulletproof."

Heh, same here. I often purchase soundtracks (I have so much Hans Zimmerman, even his non-soundtrack stuff) and play them as I drive about.

I can't tell you how many times I've had friends come along with me and say, "Wow. For some reason...I feel like I'm in a movie! This conversation! The atmosphere, everything!"

Little do they know, their subconscious is simply having a bit of déjà vu with a film they may have seen in the past.

Combine that with my leading character-like charm and yeah -- we're in a movie. ;)

And yes, I love V for Vendetta for all the fantastic quotes.

"Remember remember the 5th of November;
The Gunpowder Treason and plot;
I find of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason;
Should ever be forgot."

Most people won't agree with me but I quite enjoyed

The Choir

Or in French

Les choristes

Its a French film about a school that is designed for a bad people

A new supervisor or a he called himself "A failed musician". Joined the school and changes the way that the children behave through the use of music. Also he makes it a much more enjoyable life for the kids. But the headmaster dose not agree with it

Its is kind of like the sound of music in the storyline of a grumpy git

Don't laugh too much, but I enjoyed the Harry Potter films so much I read the books. As usual, the books are even better.

If it will help stifle the laughter, my favorite author is Tom Clancy. Non of the films based on his books come close to doing the books justice. I particularly liked Red Storm Rising. I think because I was a Cold War Warrior.
