The plane ignites:

-Caught in the blast radius or hit directly by a bomb or tank shell

-2 shots from a plane

-2 shots from a parachute soldier

-Somewhere around 5 shots from a walking soldier

The planes seem pretty fragile. I can see it being taken down by the .50 from the planes, but a soldier with a M1903? Unless it directly hits the fuel tank with every shot, that's pretty remarkable.

Not to mention the plane combusts when you fly through a parachute, yet the soldier remains unscathed. :S

Or when the plane decides to give up on all...

With the new update it actually takes several shots to kill planes depending on were you hit them.

2 shots to the wings makes you smoke a 3rd shot will kill you.

2 shots will kill if as long as one of the shots hits the body of the plane and not both shots hit the wings.

Spad and red fokker triplane are the most common plane to just smoke when you hit it in the wing twice. Other planes it is a 50% chance.

How did you get the code-specifics, Cal?

EDIT: Oops. I meant Sky. "How did you get the code specifics, Sky?" I guess my mind was somewhere else while typing.

I was just wondering, since you know the EXACT variables and probabilities. Was it just through experimentation?

What? I haven't posted on this thread until now.

By the way, Dave, I go down about as often as helium balloon, whereas you fall like a burning elephant. ;)
See you in the skies!

WWI era planes were highly flammable due to the cotton fabric and nitrocellulose dope used in the covering process. Read more here en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_dope

Modern fabric covered aircraft use nylon fabric and butyrate dope. Read even more here en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_fabric_covering

I learned a little bit about this in A&P classes, but since then I have done some aircraft coverings myself. I know dent works on jets but he may know about this also. Idk

How i got the specifics was lots and lots of experimentation or killing call it which ever one you want to call it. I have just noticed that the red triplane and spad almost all the time will not go down with 2 shots to the wings and other aircraft there is a 50% chance it will go down or it wont go down. So to let you all know you are safer in a spad and red Fokker triplane in a head on than you are in any other plane now in a turn i cant tell you if your safer in those to planes because I tend to out turn them in seconds. Now if you know how to turn them you are safer in them. :)
