Can the admins give any suggestions on what to do to minimize lag?
The game was fine up until about a week ago...
Now every time I play the lag is just debilitating..

Here are some issues I am facing...

1) The game skips/jumps
2) Sometimes flight gets "Stuck"... (can't control direction)
3) Multiple shots don't kill opponent
4) Planes disappear
5) Cannot type in chat...(keyboard doesn't launch)

I have to believe its not my connection or device since I see others complaining about the same issue.

If I had to take a wild guess.. It is a server issue on the admin side. (Lack of capacity maybe?)

The lag is causing me to get shot down by noobs.. and its frustrating.

One thing I noticed is that the lag is minimized when in a tank. (I think)

PS.. I did download the new update.. but its still laggy.

Any suggestions?

Just hang in there. There will always be a new update. I saw Z in game yesterday, so he's trying. Wait till he gives up on crap Apple, then there'll be less lag I bet lol. Anyways, I feel like playing the lag is a new art form. It's like being psychic with a gun. OK so they're jumping forward and back.....predict their jumping, lite them up a dozen times, then veer off after someone else. Usually they will eventually die. If they are near bombing, lite them up till they die. If they don't, oh well maybe next update.

I guess I'm one of the fortunate few who don't experience lag.

Seriously, I NEVER have problems with lag. The only complications I get are sudden game disconnections, or a full server.

Hmmm.. maybe I need to erase some apps that I dont use to free up memory on my device.
I'll figure something out and just wait to see if there is a new update..

I played today. No lag. Altho all I did was climb duck mt.

I use a task manager to turn off apps before I start Dogfight. Not sure it does anything (Android experts generally seem to say that you don't need to manually manage apps like that, but I can't stomach the lack of exiting in Android). Anyway I figure I might as well have the best possible starting point from a memory and CPU perspective.

I do see some players lagging, but not the whole game, so I figure it's their connection that's a problem. There are certainly places around my house where the wifi is weak, and folks immediately complain about my lag, so I try to stick with the high signal areas.

As 420 alluded, it's an interesting challenge to not only have to lead a bullet stream ahead of a plane, but also to guess where the next big jump in position is going to happen. All the more fulfilling when you get a kill. And Luna, I downloaded an app that keeps the screen on indefinitely, and I toggle that On before opening Dogfight. My Galaxy S3 doesn't have a Display-On setting, and the max timeout is 10 minutes, which is just when things are getting good in a game!

Same here, Luna. Almost everyone dies within a few seconds, and most immediately. There's always ben, and always will be the few that take over a minute, though.

An S3 shouldn't run Dogfight slow, even with a few apps open. I do use a task manager for my droid, though.

Yeah, your phones speed only affects YOU. The wifi is what everyone else sees.

Your screen turns off while playing Dogfight? The iPad lets it stay on forever while playing it.

Don't waste more than two bullets on a guy, it doesn't help. Lag is simply a slow communication, so once the signal reaches them, the two bullets will. You're actually slowing it down by adding to the signal when you shoot them more than you need to. Two bullets, then move on.

Yes I was, but my 50 kills in one game suppressed it!

ive heard a rumour - great for some and the worst news for others......z is going to make dogfight more advanced, if you have a 3year old phone (original i phone etc) then dogfight will not run!!!! i have a original galaxy s so im guessing im screwed but those with the newest phones will notice a dramatic improvement in game performance.

OK... I put my geek hat on and found a slight solution to the lag...

On my device I erased all the crappy apps like 'Draw Something' and other retarded apps that I DL'ed, played once and never played again... I freed up like 300 MB's

Second thing I did was erase the CACHE for Dogfight on my device...

Whatever I did it seemed to minimize lag so if anyone experienced the same thing I did.. do the above.

I don't think that would happen, too many people play on older phones, like my samsung galaxy s fascinate.

Actually Z said himself that he has no choice but to drop support for older devices. Am I the only one who looks at the announcements section of the forum? Its under the topic "drop of ARMv6". Go see for yourself.

I saw that but didn't really understand the whole thing, this is not good, unless my parents upgrade and give me and my older sister their galaxy SII's and get rid of our samsung galaxy s I's I'll be downgrading to save money, and will disappear from dogfight, possibly forever.
I hope my good ol' fascinate Is high end enough to not fall victim to support dropping.
