I took a class focusing on vector graphics and flash animation.

The two fields go hand-in-hand. Unlike traditional graphics, vector/flash is based on mathematical equations rather than the display of individual pixels (bit-map graphics). Think of it as this:

Bit-map graphics: 5+5+5+5+5=25

Whereas,

Vector graphics: 5X5=25

The result is a picture that can be resized to virtually infinite proportions, without losing resolution. (You see this when you zoom in too close in a picture, it gets grainy.) It is for this reason that vector art is ideal for logos, emblems, etc. to make them more versatile for marketing.

It is possible to animate vector images through flash animation. Animation is hard, especially if you are doing it solo.

There are many open-source alternatives for Adobe. I use a free program called Inkscape, and I find it a satisfying substitute for a professional-grade vector program.

A great alternative to CS6 is another open-source program called GIMP. Open-source means open to the public, so both of these programs are free.

These programs aren't bootleg. Search GIMP/Inkscape art on Google, and you'll see. ;)

Yes... I can make various types of digital art to an extent.

I can't animate anything, or at least by myself.

Creating animation isn't as easy as you think it is, Hammers.

It requires a team, first of all,and TONS of communication/dedication. Before you even animate, you need to plan it all out, storyboarding and whatnot. After that, you've got LOADS of animating work ahead of you. It can take at least a week just to animate some 10 seconds of run time, depending on the type of animation.

Even then, you still need to add sound, like music or FX.

Again Hammers... I'm sorry to dissapoint you. I can't do it.

Very true.

It's also tedious, too.

There are about 25 frames for every second of animation.

So think about making frame, by frame, by frame, by frame, by frame.......

Ah, I see what you mean.

Yeah -- you'll want to learn how to work basic things first before taking on CGI.

Eh -- age doesn't dictate how savvy you need to be. Before I even hit 13 I was already developing homebrew games for my Gameboy.

I also advise that you take up any Graphic Design classes while you're in high school. Even if you do not plan on being in Graphic Design. It'd both:

A. Really help you learn how to work various image & video programs
B. Make you a lot of cash outside of high school

Despite being in the medical field, I'm always doing jobs for people -- or for myself. Just the other day I finished some work for a realit

The best classes you can take in high school are:

A. Medical classes (helpful in all sorts of emergency situations)
B. Foreign Language classes (If available, take Chinese. If not, choose a European language. Trust me.)
C. Graphics Design/Computer Maintenance courses

I took all of the above. Served me well. Every other class I took was an utter waste of time.

And for those of you who aren't in high school yet -- take as many high school grade electives as possible. I knocked out many many classes in year 8. That's how I was able to take language, medical & every computer class.

Wise words. Trust me, take as much of the classes you NEED to take early on, so you can take the classes you WANT to take in your later years.

This was my mentality to a tee.^

Also, don't be stupid and make your days "half days" your senior year. Utilize that time instead by taking more of the said courses.
