Thats pretty much been true as far back as I can remember.

Unfortunately for me, recently music industry has been dominated by singers rather than musicians.

given the above, I have listened to alot of 70s stuff like led zepp, alotta grunge, some alt metal like Tool n soad. I've also listened to alot of british bhangra bands when they were around.

Dont listen to beefheart. The guy was an asshole. Look up "rolling stones top 100 guitarests". Check #62, Zoot Horn Rollo. He was beefhearts guitarest and overall badass, and my guitar teacher. I think beefhearts wikipedia page tells you what a f*** head he was. Bill was already an accomplished guitarest before he joined the magic band, and beefass tried to sell the "fact" that he taught bill all he knows.

Anyway, check out mallard if you like the guitar in beefheart, its the band that was formed by the less douchy members of the magic band. Its more conventional, but not as evil.
