Hey Whip, congrats on your boomerang comp!
To be honest i dont understand how you get the ongest distance throw with an object that retuns to the very piont it was launched
or how the hell you play golf with that type an object :huh
But you had fun andsomehow beet others that were attemting the same thing
and really thats whats important
Was the comp held close by your cottage

Love ya man:)
Well Long Distance or LD is measured by the furthest outreaching point from the point you throw from. You throw from the middle of a 40m line and there are 7 spotters that watch and point at the longest distance and then the judge moves to under that longest spot and we use a range finder between the judge and the line. The US record holder won...again...his record is 163m.
Now for golf we use different sticks that don't return. When Kylie (Another name for throwstick) Golf was invented we used kylies that looked similar to real Aboriginal throwsticks used for hunting but made out of Lexan (bulletproof glass) or hardwoods. Like the black one at the top of this picture. The lower ones are what we use now.
I made some up to look like golf clubs...
Well, well!!!
Color me very imprest!!!!
Honestly that is very cool Whip. It must feel pretty darn satisfying to compete and win with equipment you made yourself!!!
You mentioned hunting with then, I'm an avid bird hunter, waterfowl and upland game, what game do you go after with a throwing stick? I'm assuming small game, but you never can tell with you Canadians.
You have grabbed my curiosity, what type of materials do you use to construct these sticks? That one looks like carbon fiber. Also how long does it take to make one for your competitions, and what are the cost?
That's Very cool Whip, thanks for taking the time to explain it, looks fun.
