I need aquarium suggestions and help!
So I use to have a fish tank and it was filled with your typical fish store fish and that tank is long gone now but I decided to get another tank. My previous tank was a 10 gallon and that is to small for my plans! I was thinking a 20 or 30 gallon tank but I would like to have some money left over so if anyone knows a good site that has them cheap let me know!

I plan on putting clean pond water in the tank because normal tap water wouldn't work. There will be those aquarium stones in the bottom but I also have small clams (smaller than a dime) that I can get from my ponds to add and im hopping they will help clean the bottom of the tank and act as a food source for the fish and I plan on buying plants from the pet store to add and 2 snail to help with the cleaning.

Fish possibility's(3 inches in length or less)
-Catfish(channel or bullhead)
-Bluegill(sunfish)
-Pumpkinseed(sunfish)
-Bass(Large/Small mouth)
-Perch

(The catfish and perch will be harder to get) but I can catch the rest with a small hook and worm.

Other critters to help keep the tank clean and the accessional snack(for the fish)
-Small clams
-Snails
-Ghost shrimp
-Possibly a crayfish

My worries... I have 2 cats and a younger brother(Weazel) and he use to take fish out of the tank when he was younger and he would pet them and to know ones surprise they where all floating the next morning!
but I plan on keeping them then releasing them into my ponds when they out grow the tank!

Let me know what you think of the ecosystem I have came up with and am I missing anything ? and im not going to have all the fish I listed.. I plan on having 2 fish total in the tank but I would really like a couple perch but I would have to travel to get those because none of my ponds have that in them same with the catfish :( but sense that's out of the questions I was thinking a bass and a pumpkinseed but 3 inches or smaller and I think they should be the same size because the bass will prolly end up eating the sunfish ? but the easiest would be 2 sunfish.. pumpkinseed and bluegill either way those fish will get very big over time.. what do ya think ?

Only 2 fish in a 30 gallon aquarium?!? I'd think that size an aquarium should be able to support at least five times that many. You're probably going to have some casualties, so it might not be a bad idea to maybe put 14 or so in to start? I'd make sure to get an aerator though, in case you don't already have one. Also, as far as fish, you might want to try maybe a couple large goldfish. A decent sized pond at my college in East Texas has a healthy population of 5"-7" goldfish in it. They wouldn't hurt much, and would give some additional color to the aquarium. Good luck!

I plan on getting some goldfish and other pet store fish for the tank because im going to let it cycle for a week so if there's any ammonia spikes in the water it wont kill of my good fish im buying.

Im getting two 3 inch long large mouth bass and a 3 inch long channel catfish from a fish farm about half an hour from me so I don't need to worry about them being sick.. I would add more to the tank but sense there going to be eating other fish I put in from the store I think they will grow fast. Idk what there called but there some type of minnow and there like 20 cents a piece so ill stock the tank with them from time to time and they also have small ghost shrimp so that will be a good snack for them plus bass eat slugs, worms and most insects and the channel catfish eats mostly the same stuff.. and it will be planted with plants and those goodies so they can hunt there food :)

Personally I like plants groves where the fish can relax and then a decorative object with colorful plant life.
I still need a few plants but it will look great :)
This is a 5 gallon tank and it supports two Comet goldfish. The reason they say 30 gallons for two is because they can grow up to a foot in size and well... they are a dirty animal. It depends on how big you want them, and the space you have for a huge tank (high are recommended by me for smaller areas). If you want smaller fish, get a 5 gallon for two, for bigger, unfortunately yes a 30 gallon tank is MINIMUM and 10 more gallons a least per extra fish.

what ever goes In the tank needs to be the same size as the two large mouth bass and the catfish LOL because anything smaller will end up in there stomachs and the tank is more native themed I guess you could say.. I got small pebbles/rocks from the creek behind my house because I don't want to buy $10 bags of colored rocks :Plol im going tonight to get the tank from Walmart! petco/petsmart has them for $150-$200 and that's just over priced for a glass box so im hoping Walmart has the tank for $40-$50 because last time I had a 10 gallon and that was $20 and the 30 gallon was like $40 so I hope the prices are still the same!

I would go for a bigger one. I used to have one 100 and one 170gallon aquarium.
I hade Malawi and Tanganica cichlids in them.
The bigger the tank the less effort to keep it running.

it was a kit.. I got a 20 gallon that came with a filter lid and the LED lights plus I bought a heater and a bubbler the other day I plan on getting a much larger one but for know its a 20 gallon. don't worry its not going to be packed with fish because many people have angered me at petco giving me there 2 cents on fish care which but I know what im doing... I have one pleco and one dragonfish which get along and its going to be planted and maybe 3 tiger barb fish or some other type of small/medium sized schooling fish

i was going to get a bigger one but i need boots and those cost anywhere from $100-170 lol

if you brought in that shark instead like i told you too....you wouldn't have to worry about those small fishes having that fungus......just the shark having it....cause like the shark would have taken 'good care' of your precious fish

when you say taken good care of them do you mean eating them ? The type at petsmart are like 3 inches long and have no teeth.. most mini sharks don't have teeth unless you some how get a baby great white! and all my fish are larger around 2-3 inches and I have 2 smaller ones about an inch long Plus I don't really like those exotic fish or those "pretty" fish plus my tank is pretty much just for the fish not for me to look at all day.. and my 20 gallon is full and I plan on buying a much larger tank in the next 3-4 months because my pleco is going to get large.. possibly a 55 gallon or bigger
