I always knew I wanted to have a good job and a stable life before considering a girl, I want to be able to provide for her u know.

Kes, here is what I know on the subject. I don't know how much applies to you, but I wish someone had taken the time to try to get this through my head early on, because it would have saved me a lot of grief, and I would have been so much happier so much sooner. I am a naturally shy person, but I have also almost completely overcome it, because it IS debilitating to your life.

As you know, I have a wife and 2 daughters. I was also raised primarily by my single mother, although I was close to my dad too. Overall, I have spent extraordinary amounts of time with women and girls. Now mix that with the fact that until I was about 16 I was unbelievably shy in regard to girls. I was so shy that sometimes trying to overcome it physically hurt. Then, not long after my dad died (which changed my whole outlook on life), the girl who I had been hopelessly in love with for over a year and who I had devoted countless hours to being there for her every possible need in hope that she might feel the same way about me decided to go out with one of my best friends that she barely knew. After that, I ceased to give a s**t, and in the process I wised up quite a bit when it came to this stuff. I figured out that you only live once and that you had better put fear aside and learn to take chances. I also learned not to waste your time with girls who are only playing games with you. It paid off greatly.

The best I can tell you is to just be kind, be yourself, and don't be apologetic for who you are. Also, don't try to "work your way in as a friend". Be respectful and nice, but be reasonably forthcoming with your intentions. If nothing else, if it's not going to work out, you won't have tortured yourself needlessly for a long time. But, you'll be amazed at how often you can at least get a date if you will just "man up" and ask (respectfully of course). Confidence mixed with kindness will open a lot of doors for you. And, yes, it gets easier each time that you at least simply try. And if it doesn't work out, "no" is never the end of the world. It stings for a bit, but it also frees your brain so that you can see other and often better options that you may have not noticed before.

Oh yea, btw, some girls just don't like nice guys (and sorry bud, but you are a nice guy). You might as well avoid those girls. That's often because they aren't nice girls and really can't be trusted either. That falls under the old "birds of a feather flock together" adage. The remainder of that type are the "changers". They aren't too great either, b/c if they manage to change the guy, they will get bored and go looking for another a-hole to try to change.

I wish you luck, and we'll start putting a shot of confidence in your vanilla cokes. All I can say is that it will get easier if you just accept yourself for who you are, don't be afraid of what "might" happen, and just go for it. It really is that easy.

This list would take me more time than I have currently to write out. Some I never met, some I fly with to this point today. My 3 and a half months have been an amazing ride and I owe a large portion of that to all [M]s that have brought me to where I am now. Specifically, the officers and a couple of the players that have spent the most time with me. O-Jim-O aka Dirt, brother we have flown over 1000 missions together. I would highly doubt any two pilots in the same time frame could compare. Kes, I promise you are the little brother I never got to mentor in life, but here it is you that is the mentor. Ghost, Hulk, TBuilt, B.H. Foust, and Bzerkbzerk, I owe my skill and knowledge mostly to you 5 gentlemen. Not everyone here that reads this sees eye to eye, but these guys are what make this game truly great. Outside of my squad the list is equally as long. FlyMagic, I never flew with you dear friend, but after much reading and reviewing, you were truly an inspiration to many and a dear friend to those who got the chance to say such things. Duckwing1, you inspire us all to this day to see what this game and community can do even in the waning moments if life. A true hero, you did not go quietly brother and for that, we are all indebted to you. Frank Barraca, you have shown how great people can come from many different places. A true scholar and gentleman, it is always humbling and a pleasure to fly with you. Davy Crockett, the best damn bully to ever bully and that dear sir is no small feat. Triple Taps, always willing to help and do what is trivet by the game. Tulsa Doom, remember you are a better pilot than Whip, he just doesn't know it yet . Manny and Jackolope, you guys should have killed us all by now. Because you haven't is a feat all in its own. Thanks for the drinks and patience...especially with Hulk (I swear those damages bills get more and more expensive). I could go on forever, but every lazy, half witted post most come to a merciful end. Thank you all and for those who feel snubbed...just pm me or find me and shoot me down that way I can make note of your strong affections . Many of you are great and are what make this game great. I'm indebted to many and honored to have known so many great people and friends. With you all, this game would have no point.

OHHHHH Yea, Right on. I was about the same. Raised differently. I was shy and thought I was worthless....
Went in the Military, Made a ton of friends, and a few not so friends. Anyway's I hooked up with this Ammunitions specialist (female). It wasn't that I tried, it just happened and has been happening since 1986. I have no idea what she saw in me and I ask her to this day..... She laugh's at me.... What the Hell does that mean.....

Yes, there are so many Good Guys in this place, as many have been there for questions and help for me, being pretty new. I would just like to add horriblebreast to the list, or "Mr Breast" as I like to call him. Just seems he is online and in chat whenever I am, and he has been very friendly and helpful since the day I showed up. And, got a chance to fly with him as well and had a good time till I kept losing connection.

Well, a little over a week ago Joker and myself were having one of our very late night chat's..lol. And as I remember someone brought up subject of people they didn't care for. ( a subject we hear all to often on W .C.) So attempting to be funny I said "Joker if you had a thread about all around awesome people that's where you'd find us! " And faster than I can be shot down he started this..lol . I said all that to say this , Reading everyone's post's I realize that this isn't just another online game , I've spent a lot of time with most everyone mentioned here , I've made good friend's here, you all make this game what it is, So Joker , my Bud , thx for stating this..lol . And all my best wishes go out to everyone and there families I hope we all can do this forever!

I'm not to be redundant and for sake of time (Advil PM kicked in), I would mention everyone listed here. I would like to highlight all my Misfit brothers and sister. I'm not sure without reading back, but blue max, Rudolph, mmiller, jizzy, jazhonky, vons Len and Kilner, trippletaps, charli, DOOOOOOM, whip, wig, theonlysoos, arkangel, gotchya, even lowen...he gives me good df practice....Wow so many to name. Many have shared tricks of the trade...and some who did might wish they hadn't..Lol. I can go on and on. It would be easier to mention those who don't make the game enjoyable.

Geeez...I forgot to mention Frank, dentin, Davy, Sgt york..but like I said, this list could go on. Oh..I don't have any crushes.

There are many many good players in this game. Too many to name less I forget one or two. But the player I enjoy alot, is the unknown player that sticks it out in an outnumbered match. Particularly if they are lower level, and they are getting hammered, left right and center, but they hang in there, and give it their all. That tells me somthing about that person. It actually tells me alot.

I can't believe I never noticed this thread until today, and I feel sooooo bad seeing that I've been named in some of these posts with not so much as a "Thank You" before now.
If I were to make an attempt at a list of my own I would end up agonizing over it, stressing myself out making sure I didn't miss anyone who might feel snubbed that their name wasn't there, and it would be LOOOOOOONG.
So I'll just say that it blows my mind to think of how many names there are here that make me smile - I would never have thought I'd meet so many playing a GAME. Sure, I have my own favorites too, but this place wouldn't be the same without the full roster
