Hi guys I got a few questions on planes and dogfighting.

1----what is the best dogfight plane. In my hanger i only have 4 planes, the SE5A being the top one. I believe there is a better plane than the se5a but I don't know how to buy it or where to go to get it. Any ideals on how i can get the best dogfight plane.

2----I'm getting much better at dogfighting, I can win a lot of the times now but not against some of the top CAMPER DOGFIGHTERS
who do nothing but drop and camp and dogfight. When I get one on my "6" I cannot shake him, he's always on my butt until he
gets me. I cant even ever see the guy, he's always behind me. I try to go slow real quick so they pass me but that doesn't work on
these guys. How do i fight this problem.

3----sometimes my plane seems so slow on my ipad, especially in a dogfight, why is that, I have my sensitivity up all the way. Why do I
seem so slow.

4----I've seen some posts on dogfighting, could someone repost them if you know where they are.

I'm really interested in becoming a good DOGFIGHTER, can you all help me. I'm getting great in a tank so I need to perfect my dogfight. THANKS

for point 3, I've noticed I seem to be less responsive now too, on my Android phone and tablet. Not sure if something changed in the last few releases.

In fighting dumpers i been trying to avoid doing the same. So far its cost me alotta death

I believe it can be done though

I find turn inside roll turn inside to work well

All the while keeping ur plane inches off of grass n hoping the chaser crashes into it

I like the spad, SE5, the red barron and my zebra. those are my personal picks!

There are several tricks like tge back flip flat spin. Its hard to master but can be done.
Weaving up and down while in a turn gives a slight advantage!

Now as far as planes being slower! YES my planes seem like they are slugish and slow! For some reason the bog out when trying to climb up!

Hey Davy, a couple updates ago the planes all got sluggish. I had been running with my sensitivity turned way up trying to compensate but then my shots weren't connecting! I didn't know why I was in such a slump and my kdr was suffering, and though you wouldn't think the two would be related they were. I pit my sensitivity down to 75% and now my kdr is usually 2:1 or 3:1 in a normal game without any major heavy hitters on the red side.
When I have a dropper on my six but I'm carrying a bomb, I wait until they are zeroing in for the kill and kill the engine while pulling up hard. If I do it right, they crash into me and only they die, or they go up and over and I hit them as they go by. Honestly I die more then half the time but I need help with dogfighting too.

If there is anything I could tell you that I think would help you it would be to keep your sensitivity from being too high - long distance shots are really the only time I get to kill you consistently Davy, you're just too good lol! The only other thing I would tell you is that the fastest way to turn around with the planes being sluggish as they are right now, is to turn the plane like you're flying it back over your shoulder, then dip down to gain speed and engage the target that was behind you.

Above and beyond that, it would be me asking you for help lol!

I use the two faster planes and throttle up and down when needed. My opinion is that the other planes are pointless. Just throttle up or down....
As far as planes being sluggish? Yes i have experienced it many times on my android. Especially when I see another chaser (not all the time) my plane seems to go sluggish and glitchy, which causes me an embarrassment...Not sure why my plane would all of a sudden go slow whilst theirs is lightening fast:)

3. I thought it was me, but the ipad does not turn, even with an upgraded se5a. Lesser planes can get inside me too easily & it's pretty aggravating. As with reck, sensitivity is about 75%. Flying with the ipad, the plane tends to wander a lot too or stop drifting in a bank right before I'm ready to fire. Also pretty aggravating because I die trying to get lined up far more than I should. The tricks to make it better didnt seem to help.

Many thanks to those who have given me tips. It has helped and I've actually hit a few players, not high ranking ones of course.

I played one who was so fast and could turn on a dime, I had no chance, he was a newer player also. I asked him what he played on, he said something like a laptop with arrows? Anyhow I could not believe how fast he was so does this mean that the IPAD is not as good as other devises. I could not even compete with him.

My other real problem is when I'm going so fast the red flashes by me so fast that I don't have time to react. It's only a blur. How can I know when to shoot.

Also i use the setting with the windshield. Does anyone use the setting where u see the plane.

That was me Davy that you were talking about.. I think tho that you said you were having trouble while fighting over water? And yes, I play on my laptop using arrow keys.. for now anyways until a working joystick becomes available or I grab an X-Box 360 controller for pc.
I use the simple view.. the one without the wing support spars that block the view of the sky.

I like the spad, as, and my soon to be zebra...it's still at the plane lot and should be delivered in a little less than a week out so. Still trying to decide on the color of the interior.

Davy it's terrible that you're having trouble.

Go with the two-tone mocha/sandstone leather, I have my DV pimped out with it now. I'm trying to find a way to play records without it skipping in rough air and hard turns - I gotta have my tunes man.

Since I've been trying to learn how to dogfight I've noticed that the ipad is really slow compared to other devise, combine that fact with lack of skill and I get shot down most all times.

Some of the players i like (like the gen) so i just have fun but other players i dont have any respect for i hate losing to.

In all seriousness Davy, we will never be able to outmaneuver a player using a keyboard - they have no gyroscope to slowly interpret their movement and ultimately move the plane. A keyboard basically gives a "hard line" to the plane so its movement is instant, and as you noticed faster than the devil with his balls on fire. If we jack our sensitivity up to the max to compensate the result is a faster turning plane that can't make hits because for some reason half our shots don't register.

The countermeasure? When you encounter a keyboard player, light them up from a mile away - they can't get the crosshairs on you with those direction keys. If you let them get close enough for a turning battle your only recourse is to fly straight up and make it difficult for them to zero in on you, loop back down and hit max speed and try to push away and get some distance. If they take you out as you're still climbing, there's always hitting them from your chute - its very hard to zero in on a man in a chute with direction keys (I tried DF on a keyboard a couple weeks ago).

With that said, my hat is off to my friend Zebra Up - the progress and kdr he has accomplished using a laptop is truly remarkable. Having tried it I now understand how difficult it is to learn to play that way. Zeeb, I take back what I said about getting a tablet - it would hinder your efforts and just slow you down.

Speaking of con artists, Davy, do you still hate droppers and campers as much as you profess to, even when they are carrying your squadron's banner?

Had several games over the weekend with some famed droppers, some named in recent threads and some that have...well...flown under the radar for a while (forgive the pun). I left the bombs in the dirt and made it a mission every time I saw a droppah in a game. Once the droppah was chased off, I reloaded the racks and carried on.

One in particular was trying to run up a score against waves of bombers. The Banner gives a great aiming reference.

At 12-3 or so he suddenly must have heard him MOM calling him for lunch.

I can tell you from experience as an arrow key user the key board offers no advantage! Davy I feel like your description of being constantly being outmaneuvered even by planes that shouldn't be able all to the time. I maneuver like a slug now, more so of late it seems. Zebra is that good not because of the key board, but despite it. I've never played on an I pad so I don't know, but I tried on a tablet with tilt and that was amazing.

It is true though the worse disadvantage using arrow keys is the lack of fineness aiming, even at closer ranges. That has caused many a painful moment when something that should be impossible to miss, is missed, and missed, and you've got to be kidding me how did I miss that time!!!


? Is it only the Mac devices that are sluggish? I really do feel like I've lost a star or a half the last couple of weeks on maneuverability, but I'm on a PC and we don't have sensitivity settings.

Noob question: Can you remap keys on a keyboard in a way a game would recognize? I'd love if I could use the number pad arrow keys in place of those tinny cramped ones, or some other combo. Moving the camera switching key so it's not right next to the drop bomb key would be wonderful as well . As this is off topic you can PM me.

DAVY SAYS, LONGRIFLE, you are absolutely correct and I believe I know who you are talking about, I will PM you his name. I will not be on the same team as some of these players, this morning when I spawned into a game with FURAX as a blue i said that I would not be on the same team as a dropper like him and I left and re spawned as a red where even though he was a dropper he lost the game.

I have no position of power as a member if MOM and it's my position to keep out of the drama, i like them all to much. Plus these players were here long before me. Some droppers i enjoy even though I lose, they don't make snide remarks and they don't camp while some just irritate me.

For the life of me i cant understand the attraction to this type of play. Take a look at MAX, he plays a good game but if he is forced to dogfight he is very good. I will conquer it, somehow, someway.

I would like to make it clear that I WAS pointing out that Zebra is a remarkable player DESPITE using a laptop to play, I reread my post a couple of times to make sure I wasn't insinuating anything different. I play on a Nexus 7 - incidentally the same device wig plays on if I'm not mistaken - and its become sluggish, so much so that my single wing turns at the same rate of speed as my fully pumped 5a or DV. I played on a Windows 8.1 operated laptop to see how it felt and my DV turned like a raped ape, actually too fast for me to control without a little practice. That's all I was basing my comments on.
Zebra Up is one of the players I fear seeing in red the most, and one of my very favorite in this game. Why do I fear seeing him in red?. Because he really is that good. Period. Please don't suggest otherwise.
