1. Now that I have a decent plane, when flying without a bomb, the plane generates so much lift that I have to pull down most of the way just to keep it flying level. I can barely pull down at all.

These next two are especially for novice players.

2. When I can't get any kills because everyone else is an air marshal with a better plane than me. They are 5x faster and turn 5x sharper.

3. When they turn on a dime and it takes me forever to get turned around.

Once you get a few aces on the other team, you might as well just leave the game.

The lift thing is a glitch or bug it's happend to me I either restart my iPad or delete and redownload the app and it goes away.

Also about the aces that's how I started off just like you but then I started getting better playing with the aces
Lastly the turning prob thats probly your sensibility turn it to tw max in the settings page in the app

Thanks Sputnik, I will turn my sensitivity up if it is not already done. As for getting pwnd as a novice, I understand that it is part of the game and you have to play through it, but it is really just isn't fun as a newbie. I stopped playing the game for a while because it just wasn't fun. It would be nice if newbs up to a certain level could play in a novice game rather than being mandatory bait.

I hate accidentally unloading my bomb on myself, either by flying upside down, or diving into it.

I hate it when someone shoots my when it's still attached to me so I die in one shot.

I hate games when I just can't seem to get going, and get blasted by every aspirant on the other team.

I hate landing on the carrier and having my nose connect with the deck so I can't take off, and my tail's just up in the air.

I hate when I'm trying to shoot at someone way above me and my plane flips over.

I hate it when my calibration gets screwed up so I have to lie sideways with my iPad up in the air.

I LOVE when I land upside down on the airstrip and I manage to ramp up off a hill and turn my plane back over.

I LOVE landing on a carrier so my plane is nearly vertical with the tower, and being able to take off.

Most of all, I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE being in a game with total dumbasses who threaten to rib and kill me. Until they get muted. Then I laugh.

I hate when I'm in a game with a

Ok, so lets have it... Everyone hates tank spawn killers, that's nearly universal. I'm not touching the other spawnkilling, that's well documented. Also, lets leave the game's imperfections and glitches out of it, unless its something somebody takes advantage of. So, leaving those aside, what are your biggest pet peeves about DogFight? What is it that other players do that drives you bonkers?

Reminder, play nice! Leave names out of it. No accusations. But maybe, just maybe, you can voice a few things that you consider bad form and somebody else will think, "hmmm, I didn't realize that". Not solving world issues here, but if noting else, it'll give you a chance to vent.

I'll start us off... Bomb dumpers.... Good lord! I just yell and scream when I take of behind a teammate in a BTB or BTC game I see them dump their bomb. My thought is, if you're going to play in a team based type game, play as a teammate or get off my team! This isn't just noobs either. I've seen several higher ranks do it. Maybe they think its part of the strategy? Flying as cover and support? I think it's just selfish behavior, motivated by increasing their kills/points. "I ain't got time fo' dat!"

Ok your turn....

Parrott, I understand your concern. However, I'll drop my bomb to support my teammates, or destract the opponent away from the bombers, or if it's a 1 on 4 (or more) situation, or fly fast to an area to aid a teammate. My point is, to me, it's all about strategy. Like chess. I'll try to anticipate my opponents every move. Most of the time it works. Sometimes it's a disaster :S All in all, I try to make it fun for me and everyone else. I guess, in a way, it is being selfish.

My pet peeve is when I'm in a game and I get a call. And ultimately, get booted off. In never fails, when I'm in a great game, a friend or my girlfriend will call me. When a friend calls, I'll say, "dude, why you calling me?". If the gf calls, I'll say, "Hi honey, how are you?" (who am I kidding, if I get nasty about it with the gf, I'll never win  Men, always pick your battles with women. Otherwise, 9 out of 10 times, you'll lose. Trust me!! :woohoo: )

Blinking out of a game that we've all been in from the beginning after an hour or so to avoid a loss. Seen it happen a lot. Avoiding negative stats. Lame.

Blinking out of a game and right back in to avoid being killed when you are being shot. Lame.

My "team" flying around aimlessly and never heading for target. Hint: bomb enemy airport means BOMB airport. Hint: capture enemy carrier means land on ship, sit, take off, repeat. Bomb enemy carrier means same thing as bomb base but you go for the ship. Etc.....

The bomb dumping is annoying to. I will dump if way out numbered just to stay in until some one shows up to help. I will dump if I see the other team dumping. Started keeping a bomb in capture games to. Drop 1 on ship to blast sniper getting sniped a lot lately. After they do then its game on I do it to snipe, snipe, snipe hunter. Shy away from the sniping until its done to me any more. Not fair if we can't all do it.

Mav & Max, I agree with dumping to protect the base or boat. Get in a heavy chase in no mans land, i dump. I dump a lot, but its in support of winning. I dont dump just so i can shoot down the slow bombers. Beginning of a game, taking off and dumping. I'Ill usually leave.

If I see my opponents are doing it, aka they show up at my base without a bomb, no other bombers around... I'll probably leave. If we're not all playing by the same rules, its not fun for me. Same for the snipers.

In retrospect, this topic could come off a little whiny... Not my intent. Wanted it to be therapeutic more than anything. Hope everyone sees and uses it as such.

Ok so the no mans land bomb dump really bothers me. We're going head to head, we pass each other, a couple of maneuvers later I'm on your six. You notice this and decide the only way to get away from me is to drop your bomb to gain speed and maneuverability. Problem is, you're not going to get away from me. You do realize that I can drop my bomb too right? Now we are right back where we started from: me on your six and you in flames. Only now I have to fly back and get another bomb. Stop wasting my time and take your beating  If you can't win the game without dropping a bomb on something, I suggest you be the good team player and take your beating. Your sacrifice will open the door for a team mate to shoot me down while my focus is on you ;) The easiest kill to get is the guy who is so focused on another that they never see you coming :silly: Hope that didn't sound to condescending!

The other thing is: what's with the noob tactic of diving into the ground to avoid being shot down? Hit them once and they make a bee line straight in. Have you guys seen this? Don't they realize that crashes are a statistic too?

my pet peeve is when i am trying to shake someone off of my six and a hill jumps in front of me!! lol i probably do my share of crashing but it isnt to avoid getting shot down. i will try a maneuver to reverse my direction or get free from someones sites....and i would pull it off if we were flying over flat terrain.....but i always seem to find a hillside when i do this....

I admit to dropping my bomb prematurely only when I'm outnumbered/outranked/outskilled in a defensive position. I know I'm going to lose anyways, so I'm going to drop my bomb and take as many reds down with me.

When I'm stuck on defense and I have to "hold the line", so to speak, heck yeah I'm going to drop the 100 pounds that's holding me down. If you want to carry your load so you can take it to my base/carrier and blow my stuff up, then that's your problem.

Also game modes such as Dogfight or CTC, I'll drop my bomb right away, unless I want to practice my head-on shooting (the bomb makes easier handling).

The most bothersome thing that can happen is when you have a massive team and the enemy is just one guy. But unexpectedly, you happen to be the only person actually fighting, okay. Then you look over your shoulder and you see all of your buddies flying around aimlessly and crashing. Now that's worse than spawn killing.

My pet peeve is corkscrewers:

Instead if duking it out head on, these folks corkscrew towards you hoping you wont turn around to pursue them.

Edit: some of you guys are way to good at head on from distance. It would be silly for me to just sit there flying straight and level as you destroy me time after time :silly:

Heh, I do this, too. If we're gonna fight, I'm not going down in 5 second head-on conflict where the skill is whoever can hold their device the stillest. No, we are going to do this the way the game intends it -- in a Dogfight. ;)

I'm with ya on this one chief. There's one person in particular, I won't mention names but it starts with Alex and ends with Trave  who has perfected the corkscrew to an art form..doesn't duke anything out, ever...corkscrews in, gets past you, a micro sec later your dead...dont know how he turns around so dang quickly but it's almost instant...after many respawns, I actually nailed him by matching his corkscrew with a corkscrew, it was a beautiful thing..hasn't worked again, all respect to you Mr.A to the T, but screw the corkscrew!

Guilty as charged. Will do the corkscrew from time to time. Effective in DF games. Would rather dogfight than get shot straight on. Also will try it when close to bomb drop and being chased by angry red bees. Also good to break contact and compose yourself in a dogfight that's went on for a bit. Kinda reset the match then get back to it with out getting killed. Shhhhhhhhhh don't tell any one my secrets.

I used to do the corkscrew maneuver always but I have since gotten better at head on shooting. I still use the old corkscrew quite a bit if I am up against certain sharpshooting players.

Here is a choice section from the "Dicta Boelcke" (a list of tactics by WWI ace Oswald Boelcke.

Head-on attacks or head-to-tail attacks required little or no calculated deflection in aim. A head-on attack, however, exposed one directly to the enemy's guns. It was far safer and more effective to have one's target and bullet stream all traveling in more or less the same direction. This required little or no 'leading,' and exposed the target to a greater concentration of fire.
